This book comprises an introduction and 6 short stories. These start out from the introduction with a link of being the alleged supernatural experiences of a writer of ghost stories who may not be an entirely reliable reporter. The first few are full of dry humour & somewhat reminiscent of Mark Twain but the last three are increasingly more serious and do not maintain the link so well. It seems likely that they had a different origin . As a whole though the book is a good read, with an accomplished but easy style and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys dry humour and can bear a gentle ghost story.
