In this first book she is sent to investigate a case by her grandfather with her Golem partner Henri and her gargoyle protector Tris they are sent on a mission to Scorchwood where they met up with their new team, together they must solve the case of 12 missing humans but everything is not as it seems and Kat has to risk sharing her secret with a team who hold secrets of there own .....
We are given a fantastic kick butt heroine in the series just like the Academy series. Debbie Cassidy does a fantastic job at giving us that as well as a fantastic world to lose ourselves in. The descriptions are fantastic and you really feel a part of the story. We have a great team of characters that all have their own lives, quirks and signature personalities that will get your pulse racing.
Debbie Cassidy always delivers a fantastic read that you can not put down! I have read four of her books in about a week (if only I didn't have to work) and I'm in need of more! I can't wait to read book 2 as I am expecting another fantastic adventure.
The book has a really good storey line - different to most other UF stories and is very entertaining full of action, intrigue and mystery.
There are also some other wonderful characters whom I think will grow as further books are released.
There are one liners and innuendos that again will probably continue and hopefully ramp up in later books as they add some dark, dirty and sarcastic humour as an example Triss loves and is a connoisseur of everything Cock.
The characters in Debbie’s books are normally in their 20's and older so I don’t think the series I don’t think would be suitable for a young teen but definitely for a young adult as I know Debbie will bring in some sex and heat as the series develops although it will most likely be in moderation when compared to her RH books.
A great start to this urban fantasy series with a plot that surges with tension and drama and a finale that will leave you diving for book 2. Thankfully there are another 3 books for me to read, which will somewhat tide me over until book 5 in the ”Nightwatch Academy” series is published in the Summer.
It's another fun-filled adventure, that leaves you on the edge of your seat and wanting more. There's a healthy amount of eye candy and well Tris is just the cutest, and I can say that because she probably wouldn't hear me with her head in her raunchy books.
Definitely looking forward to the next book in this series, Give up the Ghost
2 Star = Finished. Didn’t really enjoy.
