About the Author

Born in Sydney, Australia and raised in England and Brunei, Tom Barber has always had a passion for writing and story-telling. It took him to Nottingham University, England, where he graduated in 2009 with a 2:1 BA Hons in English Studies. Post-graduation, Tom moved to New York City and completed the 2 Year Meisner Acting training programme at The William Esper Studio, furthering his love of acting and screen-writing. Upon his return to the UK in late 2011, Tom set to work on his debut novel, Nine Lives, which has since become a five-star rated Amazon UK Kindle hit. The following books in the series, The Getaway, Blackout, Silent Night, One Way, Return Fire, Green Light and Last Breath have been equally successful, garnering five-star reviews in the US, UK, France, Australia and Canada. The Sam Archer series has sold over 62,000 books worldwide and each title is currently being adapted into audiobook format. In his late-twenties, Tom spends most of his time back and forth between the US and the UK. He loves movies and good thrillers and hates coffee and bad weather. The Getaway
This is the second in the Sam Archer series.
Nine Lives was the first and debut novel of Tom Barber.
Following on from a terrorism plot in London for Nine Lives The Getaway takes us on an amazing journey to New York for a series of bank heists, not a happy visit for Sam Archer in the first place it soon turns to murder and revenge.
As with Nine Lives this is a sensational novel, in the narrative you can almost feel the author soaking up the atmosphere of the location, this is an extremely fast paced novel with great characters, I'm so pleased I discovered Toms work on Kindle, as per his bio he's a natural screenwriter in the making and Sam Archer certainly a hero.
Really looking forward to the next The Blackout.
Highly Recommended.

Another very fast paced thriller from Tom Barber. This time Sam Archer is in New York and gets mixed up with his late father's last case.

I enjoy this author's writing, there is no messing about - it's bang, bang, bang. No filler, all action.

my one complaint with this book is that it was almost as if I had a sat-nav with me. I didn't need a map, I was told each street and each turn that was made. It did get a bit wearing at times.

Apart from that, a cracking good read.

Having read Nine Lives by the same author I purchases this book. Good story but not as good as Nine lives. Had a lot of description and I felt some of it was unnecessary. Had a nice twist to it which I didn't see coming! On the whole a reasonable read and suffice to say I will buy another by this author.

The Getaway is the second book featuring British copper Sam Archer (I've not read the first) and the action over a week in New York City is relentless, exciting, bloody and sometimes a little implausible. But I read the book in a couple of sittings - the term unputdownable is made for books like this - and didn't always spot the twists and double crosses.

Sometimes the gory descriptions were a bit much, mostly because there was little variety in the spraying of brains and blood, and the narration could be a little over complicated with unnecessary detail of roads and routes, yet at the same time could be lacking when it came to character traits.

This was a free download so the question has to be will I buy any others in the series? Well, maybe!

Another free download from kindle books. You never known what to expect, some are good some bad, this is a goodun, you can see what's coming a mile away but the storyline runs well and concludes nicely.

The Getaway (Sam Archer 2) – Tom Barber

Sam Archer hears the news that his father (who he has had very little contact with since the age of sixteen) has been murdered while on a secret FBI investigation.

After the funeral, one of his father’s oldest friends (and fellow FBI agent) persuades Sam to help him catch the killers, by going undercover with the group of bank robbers who Agent Gerrard assures Sam were responsible for his father’s death.

This is my second Sam Archer book and I like that the author is developing him into a really nice whole person that you the reader, can relate to. This is a very cleverly constructed story. You kind of guess who really killed Sam’s father, but just don’t know how Sam is going to manage to find it out before it’s too late.

Thoroughly enjoyed this second book in the series. The story had me hooked from start to finish. Its a book where you can visualise what is going on. I already had book 3 on my Kindle and have just purchased book 4 in the series, I hope the next instalments will be as good as the first 2 in the Sam Archer series.
