I am curious why Penguin Books were suckered into being the publisher! I was deluded by expectations from the books amazon review. The actual valuable part would amount to 1 or 2 pages in total, and that's being kind. The rest is page after page of reiterations and many contradictions (such as how to treat your staff). If you want to get sh*t done I suggest you start by avoiding this book. Then again - if you are the kind of person that likes to be often stopped on the street by broadband sales people, the ones that have the gift of the gab but self indulgent, regardless if you want to listen or not, then this could be your book.

This book rambles through Harbison's experiences as he meandered from being a successful Chef through founding two new media start ups with varying degrees of success. From my point of view the five prominent learnings from this book are as follows, Juice your breakfast to make the meal more efficient, outsource your housework, build your personal brand, win ugly and be consistent throughout. The rest of the book while being an interesting story wasn't very focused.

The catchy title which drew me into the book to begin with rears its head at every possible opportunity to the point of which it becomes thoroughly irritating, like a colleague who has come back from a course and only retained one idea which they incessantly impart upon you.

I found Harbison was also contradictory in several places and made many references to his wealth and flash car then ultimately denounced wealth as a poor goal at the end of the book.

Finally Harbison lost almost all credibility with me when half way through the book he admitted, "I used to be a menace on the roads as I pinged through Whatsapp looking for updates as I snaked through traffic." This was supposed to be a positive outcome of him having abandoned his smart phone so he no longer behaved like this. However, anyone who thinks this type of behaviour is even remotely acceptable under any circumstances is not worthy of your time. It takes a split second to kill someone because you prioritised your phone over watching the road. Harbison would do well to Google, "smartphone car accident" to educate himself in this respect.

Harbison talks more about his life than business or getting sh*t done. The book really lacks the structure you would expect, no one is asking for a step by step guide. But you won't get anything of the sort from this book!

The book is more about Harbison who can cook, sell, tweet, blog and at one point cooked for the millionaires on yachts and at private party's.

If you want a book that gives you an insight on how to waffle and bull sh*t to make money then BUY this book. It's a great example of the authors purpose of making a few quid and saying he's written a book. And let's be honest not many of us can say that.

The book passed the time for me reading while on holiday but it was a disappointing read and doesn't leave you feeling you can't put it down.

While some might argue about the pointlessness of a reading a business book by an ordinary guy with just one moderate success to his name, I felt it would offer accessibility I could perhaps relate to. The book rattled along at a nice pace but it was more about the author than his business. I wanted to hear how he got his first client, since neither he nor his partner had social media experience; how they went about picking a name, and all the nitty gritty. The most interesting detail for me was how much they charged per day. So while it was okay if you like homespun philosophy, it didn't really do what it said on the tin.

Felt like I was reading similar ideas written and promoted by other well known blog/Internet business type gurus except without much detail or new insight. Harbison talks more about his life than business or getting s*** done. The book really lacks formulated ideas and can be very easy to skip whole sections without feeling your missing much. If you are after a book to spark new ideas or get your business juices going this is not going to satisfy your craving. It seems like an honest account of a guy who can cook, sell, tweet & blog and at one point cooked for rich people on big boats. Nothing exciting, nothing new and a very average read.

A bit self indulgent and contradictory. He has had minor sucess and you would think so what. I bought a house and have a nice car and sold a business. ....and......so has lots of people. He tries to come across as a multi millionaire success but the book, which is a bit disjointed points to moderate success. I think this book is just so he can say he wrote one. If you know very little about self help you will get a few nuggets here but there are much better reads on life coaching elsewhere. But he deserves credit for trying lots of things and getting out there fearlessly. His battle with drugs and alcohol he has done well with. Overall an ok read

It's rather more an autobiography rather than a useful guide but nonetheless quite thought-provoking.
