I thought that this film would perhaps never be as good as Eminem's 8 Mile film but 50 cent's acting ability is surprisingly better than i expected. Its a decent storyline which kind of outlines his life but only loosely as Marcus (50 cent) sells drugs on the street and works with Majestic who won't let him go when Marcus decides to turn to rapping. Anyway, this is worth a look i think, if you really want a great gangster film though, then Training Day is the best of them all.

this film isn't another gangsta film it has a decent storyline to it, which most people can relate to. it shows fiddy picking up his life and making something outta himself. could be very inspirin to youngsters who have been misled. definately one to watch, for me it opnened my eyes to what type of stuff actually goes on in the world as i was very shelterd to this type of stuff.

Everyone is comparing this film to 8 mile but get rich or die tryin is as much 8 mile as licence to drive is the fast and the furious

This film is full of action and based on 50 cents real life, although exagerated.

This is a must see film

And before you ask I am not a big 50 cent fan

50 Cent finally went through & followed the trend of rappers making movies, after the succes of 8 Mile, it had to happen.

The storyline is pretty good, 50's acting is also impressive in the film, however that aside, the film does tend to drag in parts & can get a little boring, it seems to be based a lot on violence & shootings really in parts, more than storyline & fulfillness in the film.

This was obviously a high budget film too, and when the stroyline is good, it's got some really good parts, such as the whole jaw incident in regards to 50's shooting, obviously the film is exaggerated, to make a story ... but it's good & done well in parts.

The fact that it was 50 Cent & a successful rapper, is obviously a big part of what made the movie what it was (If this was an average story without a starring rapper playing the lead role & the life of him, it wouldn't have really made much impact).

Bottom line is, it's not actually a bad film, but it does get a little boring in parts, i'd reccomend sitting & watching it to come to your own conclusions, however I think you'd probably be best to rent the film rather than purchase it as I don't think it's a film you'd want to sit through & watch again, after seeing the film first time round.

Good performance from 50 & all in all, not a bad film, but does drag in parts & the soundtrack could have been much better also.

This is a good film and I am surprised that it is because when I first heard that 50 CENT was going to star in a film I wasn't looking forward to seeing it but he pulled acting off.

In his film debut, hip hop superstar CURTIS "50 CENT" JACKSON explodes across the screen in this hard hitting urban drama from director JIM SHERIDAN (IN AMERICA).

Following a near fatal gun battle MARCUS (50 CENT) recalls his journey from orphaned street kid from the ghetto to making his mark in the drug trade to teaming up with a fellow ex con(TERRANCE HOWARD) for his shot at becomina a successful rap artist.

I first saw this film at the cinema and liked it then I saw it on dvd for cheap so I bought it.

The special features arn't upto much with a trailer and a making of called A PORTRAIT OF AN ARTIST - THE MAKING OF GET RICH OR DIE TRYIN'

All in all it's a really good film but the extras let the dvd down so buy it for the film and not the special features.

dont listen to anyone who says this movie was not good. Its great and it will apeal even to those who are not into hip hop and are not familiar with who "50 cent" is.
its fantastic from start to finish with great acting from all the actors.
this isnt just a ganster "bang bang i will shoot you" movie, it has a very good story line for those who also love drama.

I must admit that i really hate 50 Cent's attitude and the fact that he thinks he is above everybody and will sell out anyone so i put this movie on extremely biased against 50 Cent and expecting this film to be really bad but to be honest although it's not on the same level it is almost there with 8 Mile which will be remembered as a crowning hip hop performance but this movie was great.

This movie is basically the story of 50 Cent but on the big screen. 50 Plays Marcus a gangster struggling to make a living and make it as a famous rapper but being a gangster gets Marcus alot of enemies which winds him up getting shot. Marcus survives the fatal shooting and the shooting winds up getting him the career he always longed for to be a famous rapper and earn a big living from it.

This is a great movie even if you're not the biggest fan of 50 Cent the person this movie is still a great watch because it is very, very good. 50 isn't the best actor in the world but basically playing himself he does a great job.
