Much of this book is good and useful particularly on the practicalities of living in Germany. Its portrayal of German culture is broadly correct but the author paint his portrait with rather broad strokes. The Germans are not so entirely uptight as he makes out although with the more old-fashioned Germans much of what he writes is sound enough.
This book has put so much more depth into my knowledge of Germany, It enabled me to understand the ins and outs of the German culture and way people live, and really improved my month long travels of Germany. Even if you are not going to Germany, buy this book, it is such an interesting read. I'll be going out to buy all the others in the series just to bring me closer to other countries.
