About the Author

Regine Aldington was born in Bielefeld, Germany. She studied art history, archaeology and ethnology at the Universities of Munster and Salzburg, specializing in 17th- and 18th-century architecture and in 19th-century painting. Her Ph.D. thesis was on Baroque gardens. She was Assistant Professor of History of Art at the University of Munster, lecturing on a variety of subjects with special interest in the relationships between art and philosophy and between art and music. Alongside her academic career she was also a freelance contributor to the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung on contemporary art. She married in 1989, has a son and two daughters and lives in London and Kent.
