This is not the be all and end all regarding the title characters, nor is it meant to be. I would describe it as an entertaining overview of their lives and some of the locations that they were involved with. If you want an insight of the Stephensons that would be a step into further reading, this will do nicely. Good colour pictures of the various locations, with a thumbnail history. Recommended as a starter to other books or for those wishing to learn a little about two of Britain's and the World's greats. Great to see pictures of Arnside viaduct again, much understated but a brilliant looking and very long lived crossing of a treacherous piece of water: also fits perfectly into the landscape; belongs there. Try walking across it on a stormy very wet night as I once did!
