I discovered this author after seeing him on the news with Oliver Moran - the poet he helped to get published. Firstly, what a brilliant (and brave) idea to interview a tra.....erm, Gentleman of the road and get his life story! You're on to a winner there as you're always wondering how he came to be homeless - especially as the story progresses. This is a powerful and gripping book. I've never been that much 'into' fiction as I've always thought that truth is stranger and this book reinforces the point.Other reviewers have pointed out that Mr Davies makes the characters and settings come to life so that you feel as though you are there with them and that's exactly how I felt. So well written I thoroughly enjoyed it and highly recommend it to anyone who loves a real life story. I could definitely see this book being made into a film so any film producers out there? Grab it quick before someone else does.
It will make you laugh and make you cry, there are some truly heartbreaking moments in the story - as real life is prone to serve up but, unless you're a robot, I guarantee you will never look at a homeless person in the same way after reading it.
Thank you Mr Davies for a wonderful read!
