Angling has been a constant thread running through my life ever since my father bought me some fishing tackle when I was still in short trousers. With his help I learned how to catch fish in the village pond and a few years later I became a successful match angler. Taking part in local angling competitions was great, but tipping a match winning net full of fish onto the scales was even better.
For 33 long years I toiled away in a factory and during that time I climbed the rickety ladder of promotion. However, fortune eventually smiled on me and in 2003, an opportunity presented itself that allowed me to change careers and I set myself up as a freelance writer. I wrote articles and short stories for magazines and contributed web content and photos to websites. However, I always wanted to write something more substantial and, after winning a prestigious short story competition, I began writing books.
When it comes to hobbies, I enjoy pyrography and watercolour painting, but my greatest love has always been fishing. I guess that is why the first book I ever published was about angling.
