In effect, its what I would call a telescopic fishing pole (the sort I used to take on holiday where you simply bought and fastened a line pre-fixed with hook, float and weights to the end to use). However its perfect for flying a windsock - light and flexible with a solid top section. Plus windsocks only need a single fastening point. Not sure about a flag, as it only has one eye at the top and a flag needs two points of fastening (or a loop round the pole for the bottom of the flag). I could not directly fasten my windsock to the eyelet on the end of the rod and I used a small metal keyring loop as the link (perhaps this highlights its fishing origins or my windsock has a large clip. That said, the eyelet is bigger than on a normal telescopic fishing pole).
It makes a perfect camping windsock pole (and perhaps flag pole). Its well made, lightweight and good value. You will need something to fasten it to / put it on (such as a stake in the ground). Hey and if you wanted, you could even use it for fishing (but dont tell the wife & remove flag first!).
As the saying goes; 'monkey see, monkey do', I had to have one too!
The first one came damaged in the post (This is where I had concerns about how robust these poles were) however, without any fuss, the supplier sent out a replacement pretty quickly and the following weekend, I took it and my fish windsock with me on the first camping trip of the year.
Rain and high winds, a terrible weekend! However, the pole and the windsock were fine, anchored in with two ground spikes from the same supplier.
I suppose the main thing anyone looks for in a review is; would I buy another? Yes, I would.
I hope this was helpful as I always try to give an honest statement of my experience with a product.
Well OK - maybe I exaggerate a little.
It is telescopic and shuts down to a reasonable size for packing, reasonably light-weight and did the job nicely.

A very good quality pole. Stood up to quite high winds while it was out during a week long camping trip.Published 12 days ago by Masher
Terrible. Used once for this weekend's British Grand Prix. Not that windy and it jammed, locked in and wouldn't collapse. Had to leave at the campsite. Waste of money.Published 16 days ago by Richard Tatterton
