to be an adapter first it needs to fit at both ends of the kit it adapts. The scart is fine but the HDMI is no shape i recognise nor does the telly.Which says please stop trying to fit that square socket in my round hole! Something i would like to do to the supplier.

I have a Panasonic TV - a fairly new one and it certainly doesn't fit in any socket in the back. Don't waste your money. I have been mis sold something very basic and I am very annoyed.

It works a treat, delivered very quickly. Even though it looks like a hdmi socket the one side it isn't and only fits in certain panasonic tvs

This works great if you use it correctly
First plug one end of a scart lead into your player THEN plug the other end of that scart lead into this adaptor . Now plug the other end of this adaptor into the scart to HDMI socket of your tv.
See your Panasonic instruction book to locate the correct HSDMI socket for using this extension.
Panasonic supply this connection lead with their upper range tv's.
One of my DVD players is an older "play anything" model and I use one of these leads to upgrade the picture on some DVDs that won't play on a modern machine and it works perfectly.Works on old VHS machines as well.
Check your instruction televisions book to see what HDMI sockets it has before you buy.

Re the disgruntled comments below this isn't a cable to link your Scart devices to your TV via an available HDMI socket and isn't billed as such. It's a cable that allows you to connect your scart devices to Panasonic's (may apply to other makes as well) AV sockets. For some reason - and this is where the confusion has arisen below - traditional scart sockets on TVs are being abandoned in favour of an AV socket that is, in shape and size, very similar to the HDMI sockets. But they are not the same same thing at all. Hence the comments about them not fitting

I can only assume that the old scart sockets have been deemed too old, ugly and large for the new range of slim TVs and we are being prepared for a new type of AV connector. Either that or it's just a way to make linked devices seem out of date so we spend yet more money on updataing them or the cables we need to make them still connect.

The item was advertised as scart to HDMI but did not fit a standard HDMI socket

I'm unable to rate this item since I purchased it in the hope it would fit my Samsung. TV. Unfortunately this was not the case and it lies unused in a drawer. I'm sure those purchasing it for the correct TV will be happy with both price and function.
