First let me say that I LOVE Jayne Ann Krentz and have been keen to read all her old material. Some of her Stephanie James books are very dated, but still very enjoyable. I wasn't so keen on this one. It seemed to me that the leading man, Simon, was looking for a Stepford wife, not an independant woman! He spent the whole book ordering her around, and she responded by initially protesting then capitulating when he ignored her protests. The part I really hated , however, (SPOILER ALERT) was the fact that this woman had been abused and beaten by her former husband, and he felt that it was ok to spank her for 'bad' behaviour; and she was happy with this!! If you are a JAK fan and want to read all her books, you will no doubt want to read this one too, but be warned that this is not in the same class as her more modern books.
