Let me begin with the statement that this game belongs to "my genre". I just love 3rd person Hack'n'Slay, it is my favourite style of game.
Contrary to the gaming experience milestones such as the God of War series, Darksiders and Dante's Inferno to name but a few, however,
this one unfortunately leaves a rather crude impression. First, the goodies:

The developers have really put an effort into a stylish way of fighting with a host of possible weapon combinations.
Not only can you choose from one-handed sword style all the way to two-handed axe, with spear and shield, mace and axe and every other combination in between, but also combos are beautifully executed in a wholly authentic way of medieval weapons fighting.
You might play an extremely strong guy, but what he does with the weapons he wields seems in no way exaggerated or unrealistic, but very efficient.

With every weapons combination there is a minimum of two finishing moves, usually a rather quick and very brutal way of dispatching your opponent.
I have not seen them all, but let's just say while this is not Mortal Kombat, a really bloodthirsty player should still enjoy themselves very much.
Again, there is no fantasy here, these moves are believable, if somewhat show-offs, which I consider a very commendable effort and nicely done as well.

Graphics. Well, there is a good and a bad side to those. I find the characters themselves, especially their armour and equipment, to be designed carefully
and with good if not great detail. The environment, however, is - measured against the actual standard - poorly made. Everything has that blocky, harsh feel to it that I still know from the earliest of the open GL first person shooters on the PC (yes, I'm old, sue me).

I tried this game and after clicking through dozens of cutscenes it appeared to work ok. However, when I tried to play other titles on my system they suddenly decided not to work. This game has somehow corrupted my PS3 and I have yet to find a solution but will invariably require painstaking removal of game files one by one....many thanks to the seller (Not!)

This is one of those games that really could have been a little bit better, Its not bad by any means, the story is about a crusader who try's to go off to the holy land to save his soul or something and just ends up fighting his way down eastern europe and taking part in the sack of constantinople looking for a relic.(to be honest i found the cut scenes very boring and didnt really watch them, just skiped through them)
The graphics are of a high quality but the fighting is abit of a let down, dispite the fact that there are a wide variety of weapons to fight with and massive combo tree's. They are so massive that you can never remember them all and i just ended up using one or two weapons as most of them are rubbish. They also break very easily which gets abit annoying after a while.
The game also has a few bugs, you can get stuck on the spot in certain places and have to restart the level and the trophy related to compleating the game on nightmare difficulty can be glitchy and you have to replay levels over and over to get it to unlock.
But if these things dont bother you and you just like a bit of swordplay and killing people in many different ways (some of the sound effects when your placing spears inside peoples heads are quite amusing!) then i suppose its not to bad, just could have been better.

This! Game! Is! AWESOME!!! I've had this game since it was released and I've just completed it (I got stuck on a particular battle and left it for a a few weeks knowing I'd beat it when I returned (and that's on Easy difficulty)). This game is everything I look for in a game. A way to strengthen your character (for a limited time), a huge comical streak that streches as far as my smile (from ear to ear) and epic fighting. I'm not gonna go into too much detail purely because the surprises in the game are worth the wait. Yes, it's slow to be able to jam your weapon into someones head - too many cut-scenes, too much yacking and blah blah blah. The graphics does show room for improvement (environment-wise) and the trophies are easy to aquire if you work towards them but this game is undeniable my favourite. You can't complete a chapter without giggling at the humour. Even the fighting style (a particular finisher with the spear) had me in stitches. The title of the hidden trophy coincides with what the characters say seconds before it pings up at the top of your screen. And the story is just incredible (couldn't spell PHENOMINAL???). The only thing, the ONE thing, that really frustrated me about this game is the cliff hanger. You spend countless hours smashing through the game, feeling like a champion after looking at the pile of corpses behind you, for the most annoying, interuptive cliff hanger of all time (OF ALL TIME). There best be a sequel! God help them if problems occur; ceasing a sequel. The best game to play if you concentrate on the fighting, deflecting attacks, the (here it comes again) epic humour and the job you get from decapitating (or just overall all removing limbs) from your enimies rather than the environment. BUY IT AND JUDGE IT YOURSELF!!!
