How do you know who is repairing your hard drive??

It failed after less than one year. Could not boot from it, could not boot from any other device until it was disconnected. I was unwilling to return it for repair under the warranty. With confidential data, such as bank info on it, I don't know who may be gaining access to my data. I have looked at ways to repair it, but in the end I may have to ram a chisel through it and bin it. I recommend this method of disposing of old hard drives. You can wipe them securely with special software if they still work, but it can take days.

The old steam-driven Evesham was running slow; the old wedding-drained bank balance was running low. Found this, billed as "Genetic", at around a third of the price of some well-known branded equivalents. Went for it. Turned out to be a rather chunky Hitachi. Arrived within days, well-packed and shrouded in an anti-static envelope. Fitted nicely (the old Evesham turned out to be future-proofed with spare IDE and power supply connectors) and, after a bit of formatting and cloning of the old HDD, was up and running (perfectly so far). Thank you Digital Components Ltd - a fourfold increase in HDD space for £25......

I purchased this to repair a friends computer after his hard drive stopped working. his older motherboard required a ide type fitting. this drive was at a good price and delivery was quick which allowed me to repair computer in a couple of days. it seems to work very well and is nice and quiet when in use. price was good as local stores made repair would have been expensive

The item arrived soon after ordering and was well packed and proyected in abtistatic bag. I have used an external power supply and an IDE adaptor and used it to clone my C Drive using Acronis software (Warning: The Acronis software clash with Norton Security and cause Windows to crush. It took me six months to solve this problem). I have then used the hard drive to back up important data from other drives. The drive is fairly quiet and it worth the price.

Recon Hard drive a steady replacement for my failing drive and will survive probably two years -considering that new drives last 5-6 years before corruption sets in/servo failure.
Old IDE now defuct to SATA and Solid state drives so prices are falling and motherboards adapt to new specs.
Good for the short term.

Needed an ide drive since I have ran out of sata ports, and this was very good value. Performs very quickly, beats an external hard drive anyway. You can hear the drive when it is reading/writing but it is not too loud, runs cool as well. No complaints really, solid performance so far and excellent value.
