The Saltwind has a cool and casual look but will keep out the rain on showery Summer days.

+ You wouldn't think it by looking at it, but it is extremely waterproof.
+ Pockets are warm, comfy and fairly large, you get about 3inches of depth below the zip.
+ It 's very light.
+ Fabric is pretty much halfway between fleece and jacket, so it's not quite as flexible as a fleece, but still a bit more comfy than your average jacket.
- Fabric is not breathable, the waterproofing keeps sweat in!
- Wrists of the sleeves are not elasticated, "Wind Blocker" does little to keep gusts from going up your arms.
- It isn't as warm as a proper fleece.
I was hoping to use this fleece/jacket just as a top over a shirt, taking advantage of it being a fleece and jacket combined - but it isn't really up to that sadly! It's basically a fairly thin coat without a hood. Nothing wrong with that, but you will probably want a warm layer underneath it to make up for its failings. However, if you don't mind wearing that extra layer underneath and can live without the hood it will do a nice job in any weather.
The jacket is fine but I found it not particularly waterproof - not even light showerproof. A walk in light drizzle resulted in damp shoulders under the coat and I don't find it particularly snug or warm. Nowhere near as warm as my previous fleece which sadly died after nine years good service.
It's okay but I'll need a waterproof top layer for anything heavier than very light drizzle and I'll certainly need a thicker jumper or undergarments to keep me warm.
So all-in-all it's okay but certainly not showerproof and a bit on the thin side to keep you warm on a chilly winter's day.
