This short booklet (haven't read the big one) takes on board the idea that dodgy politicians ignore good scientific advice for political reasons and how much better the world might be if only they were more honest. This is hardly a novel polemic: business and popular science magazines are full of column inches in this sort of area. But, IMHO, decision makers believe that scientists, geeks included, have a myopic view of the world, sometimes bear hidden agendas and may have covert paymasters - aspects the politician must assess along with all the good advice they may, or may not, be getting. So hardly a clean-cut issue and this book gives a one-sided story.
