Gary Newell (born 1974) was born in Portsmouth, England and along with his sister, Lorraine, was brought up in Hampshire by his parents, Robert and Pauline Newell.
Gary got into computers, gadgets and technology at an early age when he received the Atari 2600.
From there Gary learned to program in BASIC on the Sinclair Spectrum and in Turbo C on the Commodore Amiga.
Gary has been working in the IT industry for almost 20 years, as a software developer and SQL Server DBA.
As a self declared ideas person, Gary has worked on several websites over the years but is most renowned for his work on the Everyday Linux User website, (www.everydaylinuxuser.com) where he writes reviews about popular Linux distributions and produces technical tutorials).
