I love this quote from Sawyer Bennett acknowledgements. "Cancer today is not always the big 'C' that we have always feared. I wanted to show that there is hope and there can be a happily ever after."
Garrett Samuelson is a player for Cold Fury Hockey team but he is a man-whore. There is no doubt in my mind, he would sleep with any woman. That is until Olivia comes along and knocks his world off it's axes.
Olivia Cases cousin is Sutton, who is engaged to Alex from book 1. Olivia wanted to take a step on the wild side with Garrett. She wanted a fling, not a relationship. She is being treated for cancer and doesn't know what's next for her. The more she gets to know him, the more she falls for him. She has to tell Garrett the true about her cancer but she doesn't want to risk everything.
I would recommend this book.
He never questioned his commitment but all those around him did. Boy did he prove them wrong though!
Olivia was set to battle, but struggled to allow her loved ones in.
A heartfelt love story of bravery and great strength.
Starting this I was worried I would not like it as much as I did Alex - as I loved Alex!
I need not have worried Garrett is a completely different man to Alex, but I ended up falling in love with him all the same.
The story here was beautiful, and usually I am a bit eye rolley over insta love, but here it actually fit, given the circumstances.
I worried we might get too much of Garrett and his "king of one night stand" ways at the start, but luckily it moved on from that and got into the story really quickly.
I adored Garret, once he fell, he fell hard and was so willing to just be there for Olivia. I liked how the relationship developed, and as with book 1, it was the main characters own fears, that led to any relationship tension, as opposed to the often used BIG MISUNDERSTANDING!. Olivia I really liked too, and they felt like a couple who actually fit well together.
All in a lovely beautiful story that made me happy, that is excellently written and will have you falling in love a little (ok a lot) with the characters.
But why not a five?
Well, I am not a huge fan of present tense first POV - especially when it is a dual POV - but that is a personal preference.
And the situation with Zack and Gina, **spoilers**
quite frankly I could see a mile off, every time the book mentioned how happy and in love they are - it sounded like a bell of doom! And I was not surprised how that went. I was not at all surprised to get to the end and read Zack has his book next!Read more ›
“Please don’t punish me for caring.”
I was eagerly anticipating reading Garrett’s story after reading about him in Alex, he had already made an impression on me and even at the end of Alex I was itching to get my hands on his story.
Garrett always came across as a jack the lad type player in Alex and in essence he was, but he hadn’t yet met the one. I have to say that once he had met that woman that made him weak at the knees, Garrett changed, literally a complete 180. He was smitten and he literally turned a corner over night and once Garrett goes in, he goes all in. He went in, eyes wide open, with his total heart, body and soul and it was beautiful to read and she made him fight for it.
“I’m just figuring out that maybe he wants something more than a notch with you.”
Garrett Samuelson is living the life he loves, he loves hockey, he lives and breathes it and nothing compares to the thrill and the rush that he feels when he is on the ice. He has money, great friends and can get any woman he wants, in fact they throw themselves at him. What is not to love about his life? He isn’t looking for love at all but sometimes fate has other ideas…
Olivia is Sutton’s cousin and Sutton has dragged her out to a hockey social event much to her disgust. Olivia is gorgeous, a bit hippy but she is fun, sweet and carefree. Her mum having been a hippy at heart has had a lasting effect on Olivia, so that fun carefree attitude is exuded from her and being a florist harbours her creative side.Read more ›
