Sports on the Go or at Home
Built-in GPS gives you the freedom to take your activities outside. During a run, walk or ride, vívosport is able to track distance, time and speed or pace and even map it out for you on Garmin Connect. It’s also preloaded with additional timed activities, including strength training and cardio, so you can work out the way you like.
VO2 Max and Fitness Age
Monitor key aspects of your fitness with help from Elevate 24/7 wrist-based heart rate monitoring. With the heart rate data it collects, vívosport is able to estimate your VO2 max and fitness age, two indicators of physical fitness that can improve over time with regular exercise.
All-day Stress Tracking
Garmin vivosport tracks your heart rate variability(HRV), which is used to calculate and display your stress level. The goal is to make you aware when physical or emotional sources cause your stress level to rise so you can find a way to relieve the pressure.
Pair your vivosport with a compatible smartphone and access smart features that bring convenience to your wrist. Get text messages, social media updates, emails and more, find your phone, access music controls and use the LiveTrack feature to let friends follow your activities. With auto sync, your finished activities will be automatically uploaded to Garmin Connect.
Share and Compete
Syncing your activities to Garmin Connect is for more than just storing your data. Garmin Connect is a thriving online community where people on the go can connect and compete by joining challenges, encourage each other’s successes and even share their triumphs via social media. Garmin Connect is free and available on the web or on your smartphone with the Garmin Connect Mobile app.

The in-built GPS really is what swung it for me, and after the first connection (1-2mins), any subsequent lag time for GPS to connect was within seconds. It's perfectly customizable, you can change so many features and display options that it really can be used for beginners - pros. I haven't yet used features outside of cycling and running, however I am looking forward to trying it out for indoor/strength exercise use.
All features seem accurate, the only slight limitation on the product is battery life. After one long run and usage throughout the day, it does need charging. The quoted 8hrs is accurate however, so no nasty surprises!
Liking the touch screen so far. Had one issue setting the time tough had to set manually as wouldn’t sync to correct time zone! Still trying to figure that out!
More functions than viviosmart too so looking forward to try them all out.
Battery lasts for a few days, as you might expect.
My only negative comments relate to the rubber strap which is showing signs of wear and tear, with the rubber wearing down, as this is not replaceable there is a limited shelf life for this item. I wear it to work with my suit etc and once it begins to look shabby I will have to bin it, in order to gain the benefits this needs to be worn 24/7! £130 seems a lot of money if this only lasts 12 months Still think there is some way to go in fitness tracker designs to make them smaller and more robust or with replaceable parts.
Not sure if the stress monitor is correct, as appears I am constantly stressed even when asleep! I certainly don't feel that way!
Secondly, there is no app notifications, despite playing with the settings.
The strap broke after 8 months, as predicted! I am now without a fitness tracker whilst I try and resolve whether this is covered by warranty. There is no replacement strap option, which is a design flaw in my opinion. I work in an office, so no manual labour and wear and tear on the tracker, so its not fit for purpose, as these are not cheap and you don't expect it to last less than 12 months! Very very poor and considering after years of buying Garmin products whether to another brand.
Stuff it's not good at:
1) registering rapid changes in heartrate, during sprints for example. (Has little to do with the device itself - chest straps will always be more accurate than wrist devices). For more gradual changes, during running etc, it's excellent however.
2) the gym workout mode is ... well intentioned, but just unpractical. I can't see anyone using it.
3) although it's very comfortable to wear, I have gotten some rub spots around my wrist on longer runs, wearing long sleeved shirts. Its not really a big deal, and only relevant for a few months a year, but it was an unexpected downer.
I really feel I will need to return it... due to some limitations and failings that I cannot forgive or live without.
No Notifications from any app! make it to the Vivosport. I have removed and re-installed the Android app on two very different mobile phones, and nothing. I have searched for hours the numerous forums to no avail. I have spent far too long trying to get this most basic of functions working, and I really can't be bothered anymore.
Bluetooth connection to both my phones ( Xiaomi Redmi Note 4X & a Google Nexus (pure Android) 5) dropped over and over again.. I have tried so many different solutions to try to resolve this that I have actually wanted to smash both the Garmin and my phones and my PC.
The touch screen, swiping selection method... has in a very short time began to truly irritate me. Swipes (up and down) taken as a single tap, a slow swipe taken as a long press... and all the other combinations have made me angry to the point I am swearing at my wrist!!!
The charging connection, and the worrying Garmin warning that to “Prevent corrosion, you will need to thoroughly clean and dry the connections before charging or connecting to a computer” is terrifying ... given the fact that it is bound to get sweaty, dirty, wet etc. given its intended use!!
The Weather temperature, regardless of how many times I set it to Centigrade… reverts back to Fahrenheit ….Argggggghhhhhhhh!!!!
The GPS takes an absolute age…………… ……………………………………… ……………………………………………… …………………… …………………… ………… …………… ……… to connect! OMG..
The squished-up screen when viewed in portrait mode is … well not nice.
The rubbery strap does not really hug the arm less you tighten it to the point no blood flows to the hand.
I really could go on …
GPS – when it connects, is bloody accurate, I was impressed.
The display is actually very good, but I hate the “Squished-up-ness of it”
The amount of information (when it Bluetooth connects) is fantastic. After everything has synced (Gnashing of teeth and pounding of fists) its really phenomenal the amount of info the device captures.
The connectivity and information transfer between the PC, phone, Vivosport and others if you so choose, is very well Implemented (assuming it stays connected for long enough)
So Overall… not for me… real shame. I could live with the issues above bar C to F resetting, and no notification from anything!!!
I hope you fair better.
