nüvi 2447LM arrives loaded with detailed maps of Western Europe. With free lifetime map updates, your routes are sure to reflect the most up-to-date maps, POIs (points of interest) and navigation information. New maps are available for download up to 4 times per year, for the life of your device, with no fees.
It is also preloaded with Points of Interest (POIs) such as businesses, shops, restaurants and other destinations. There's no need for you to enter that address information. Just select one - or many - and navigate there, quickly and easily. You also have the ability to add custom POIs.
Keep an eye on the latest speed cameras
nüvi 2447LM contains our unique Cyclops Speed Camera system, for real-time, direction-relevant and accurate alerts. The full safety camera database is already pre-loaded on your sat nav. However, you can get regular or one-off updates to ensure you've always got the latest camera locations, so you can drive safely and legally.
Garmin Real Directions with Garmin Real Voice
nüvi 2447LM comes with Garmin's unique Real Navigation. This includes Real Directions that guide like a friend, using recognisable landmarks, buildings and traffic lights. For example you may be advised to 'turn left over tower bridge' or to 'turn right after the cathedral'. Using prominent milestones even on unfamiliar roads means you're not constantly trying to read street names, making your journey much easier and ensures you're never misled. Along with this you also get a more natural sounding voice and realistic images of road signs.
Comprehensive Driving Guidance You See and Hear
Active Lane Guidance with voice prompts prepares you to drive through an exit or junction with confidence. As you approach, an animated model uses brightly coloured arrows to indicate the proper lane needed for your route; a friendly voice offers additional help.
photoReal junction view realistically displays junctions and road changes along your route, including the surrounding landscape and road signs. Again, arrows indicate the proper lane to be in.
For complicated junctions, Bird's Eye junction view offers a detailed ariel picture of the road network, looking down as if from overhead.
More Information at a Glance
nüvi 2447LM keeps your driving map onscreen at all times and additional information appears alongside. For details simply touch the screen. As you drive your route, the 'Up Ahead' feature constantly informs you of nearby services, including restaurants, petrol stations, hospitals and shops.
nüvi 2447LM displays speed limit, current speed and accurate time of arrival. With a quick glance, you can read the name of your current street.
Garmin Express makes it easy to update maps and software, transfer favourites to and from devices, and install free custom vehicles and voices.

Top Customer Reviews
I've read reviews and researched which one to buy and this one came top of the charts. It has all UK maps and European maps.
Like most things I buy I don't read the instructions - I plug it in and see how it goes. And this went pretty well. I got the cable that connects the power outlet through USB to my computer - this charges it. Then there's also cable to connect it to the cigarette lighter in the car. Couple of fittings for attaching the sat nav to the windscreen is pretty straight forward - just click together and the suction cup holds the sat nav on the windscreen - it's easy to take off after the use.
I went to the Garmin web-site to register my sat nav and downloaded the app for doing the updates - this took quite a long time - couple of hours - but it worked ok - so I've started with the most current routes.
I've included 20 pounds note in the pictures to get an idea of the size.
I managed to program the routes fairly easily - though I got a surprise on a way to my local gym - while testing and on my way to work - It took me on the back roads - which is the shortest distance. It even found a round I never new existed - after travelling the same way for 15 years. I was only trying this out on my way to work before I needed it for real. All I needed to do was to change preference from Shorter distance to Faster time and next time I was travelling in the main roads again.
The real test was getting me to the Luton Airport and then travelling in the Czech Republic. Both was spot on.Read more ›
The device is very fast and very accurate finding the position (not like the other) even if it's not positioned on the windscreen.
The support is bigger than the TT but more useful, I can place the Garmin on the side window too and it's cool cause you have clear view and almost you can't see it.
The device can be personalised in different ways and the setup menus are exhaustive with so many options.
The route elaboration times are fast and the reroute option is fast and easy accessible with few taps from the navigation.
Voice is clear and loud, you can download other voices but only one is the one that offers you all the info and advices, it's English.
The display is clear and crisp, the graphic is not so fancy as the TomTom, but I don't care anymore, Garmin is way more reliable.
The design is clean and a bit stylish with the gray band on the front, really like it and the menus are really well done... not like the TomTom.
I totally recommend this Garmin Nuvi
However, after trying two 2595's (as the first one was faulty), the second one was faulty too (see my earlier review on this) so they were both returned to Amazon.
A year later I decided to buy the Garmin 2597LMT expecting no problems with it. Big mistake!
Whilst using the Nuvi for the first time in Italy this February, all seemed well until the screen went blank whist navigating on a mountainous road! The sound still worked (directions) but the screen was blank. After stopping to try and fix the problem several times, by pure chance I managed to find the settings button on the touch screen, and this is when I found that the brightness control was simply re-setting it's self to zero brightness! I had no other option other than to 'learn' where to touch the screen so as to get the brightness button to move. the issue continued throughout the week I was in Italy.
Suffice to say that I contacted Amazon about this upon my return to the UK. I was offered another Nuvi 2597LMT (as I had been offered a 2595 last year, which I tried with no better luck) but with memories of that replacement, I opted for the full refund.
Sorry Garmin, but my Nuvi 300 still works fine, the maps are ancient, but it WORKS. What are Garmin doing with their products? Losing customers like me , that's what.
Beware, you may be lucky or you may not be - like me.
Firstly, I live in Cornwall and the device doesn't know the difference between 'fast' minor roads (wide ones where you can drive at 40-50mph) and tiny lanes, where averaging 15mph is the norm. Hence it often tries to send me on much slower routes than necessary. Indeed it has occasionally tried to persuade me to take turns into roads with 'not suitable for motors' signs, and even private driveways!
Secondly, the traffic alerts are pretty useless. They sometimes say a road is closed when it isn't. They often say there is a delay ahead when there turns out not to be. And, most infuriatingly, I have been sat in stationary traffic on the M25 and the A303 with the device cheerily telling me there is 'no delay on fastest route'.
Thirdly, I have just plugged the device in to my computer to update the maps, and it won't let me get past a software update with the repeated message 'there was an error installing the update' without any indication of what the error is or how I can rectify the situation.
In its defence, this unit does work well for navigating urban areas and major roads, and (when there is no traffic) the arrival time is very accurate even on long distances.
I have no idea whether these problems are common to all satnavs or particular to this Garmin, but for the £150 I paid for it overall I'm not a satisfied customer.
