It’s Garmin’s most advanced all-in-one solution for triathletes and multisport athletes.
Failure Is Not An Option
In The Water
Designed for open water and pool swimming, Forerunner 920XT measures every stroke and metre of your workouts and offers enhanced training capabilities. The sleek new design makes it wet suit-friendly and about 15 per cent lighter than its predecessor, the 910XT model.
On The Bike
The Forerunner 920XT is compatible with sensors such as speed, cadence, heart rate and power meter - to provide advanced training capabilities. In addition to GPS, it can also receive GLONASS signals for improved accuracy.
On The Run
The Forerunner 920XT can help you train for optimal running form by reporting running dynamics data when used with the HRM-Run monitor. It also has a metronome with vibe and audible alerts to guide your cadence training. For ultra runners, it offers an UltraTrac mode that turns GPS off at certain intervals, extending battery life for up to 40 hours.
Failure Is Not An Option
Whether you’re training at the pool or out in the open water, Forerunner 920XT captures detailed swim metrics, including distance, pace, stroke count, stroke rate and SWOLF score. The drill logging feature allows you to easily log swim drills and kick sets at the pool, and the 2 types of rest timers keep you pushing off the wall on time. Use time alerts to help you hold your pace, or distance alerts to let you know when a set is over. There are even alerts for calories and stroke rate.
Crank Up Your Training
The Forerunner 920XT is compatible with sensors such as speed, cadence (sold separately) and heart rate (included) to provide advanced training capabilities for your cycling workouts. It can also display power metrics when paired with ANT+ power meters, including the Garmin Vector line of single and dual-sensing pedal options. If you train with heart rate and a power meter, Forerunner 920XT can derive your VO2 max estimate for cycling to help monitor changes in your fitness. The colour gauge shows how you rank compared to other athletes in your age group. Another feature that lets you see how you measure up to others is Garmin Connect segments. Once your ride’s done and uploaded to Garmin Connect, you can see where you stand on the segment leaderboard.
Perfect Your Running Form
The Forerunner 920XT comes with running dynamics data. Based on the same technology available in Garmin’s Forerunner 620 and fēnix 2, the Forerunner 920XT helps you train for optimal running form when used with the HRM-Run monitor. This pairing allows the Forerunner 920XT to report your cadence (total steps per minute), vertical oscillation (amount of 'bounce' in your step) and ground contact time (how much time your foot spends on the ground during each step). The Forerunner 920XT also has a metronome feature with vibe and audible alerts to guide your cadence training.
Garmin Connect On Your Computer, Tablet Or Mobile Phone
Smart notifications let you see email, text and other alerts on your watch when paired with your compatible Android or Apple device.
Connect and Customise Your Watch
Save, Plan, Share And Customise

Pair the Forerunner 920XT with your smart phone and the Garmin Connect Mobile app for additional capabilities that can help you stay connected during your cycling and running workouts or races.
The live tracking feature lets you invite followers using email or social media so they can see your stats and location on a map in real time.
The Garmin Face-It watch face app lets you customise your watch face with any photo from your mobile device. Download the free app, choose an image from your photo library, add the time and set it as your watch’s face. Whether it’s a scenic view from your last hike or a picture of your new puppy, the Face-It app lets you add personality to your watch that’s uniquely you.

WATCH DESIGN AND SPECIFICATIONS
The Garmin Forerunner 920XT is a top of the range multipart GPS watch, complete with running dynamics and connected features. It features very similar software to the fenix 3, but is presented in a different format, in no small part due to the different (more square) screen shape. So what makes the 920XT ideal as a daily training watch? First and foremost, the weight. By just strapping the 920XT on my wrist for the very first time, I could immediately feel how light it was, not only compared to the fenix 3, but in comparison to other sports watches I had used in the past. Weighing in at a mere 61 grams, it truly is ideal for running, cycling and swimming. I did not need to purchase another heart rate monitor for my 920XT, and the one which was boxed with the fenix 3 connected without any problems.
Here is a full breakdown of the basic specifications:
-Physical dimensions: 1.9″ x 2.2″ x 0.5″
-Display size: 1.1″ x 0.8″
-Display resolution: 205 x 148 pixels (colour display)
-Weight: 61 grams (2.1 oz)
-Battery life: 40 hrs in UltraTrac mode; 24 hrs in training mode; 4 months in watch mode
-Water rating: 5 ATM
Also featuring GPS, GLONASS, high-sensitivity receiver, barometric altimeter, smart notifications, vibration alert, maps and watch functions, the 920XT is the complete package for athletes who love their features and data.Read more ›
If you can afford it, then you won't be disappointed!
Only thing that would have added to the product would have been a storage bag for the HRM but this is only a minor detail.
If you liked my review please take a second to click the "Like/Helpful" button, it lets me know I'm doing things right.
Quite expensive but really you will not need another device for you training.
NOTE: I have not tried the watch in open water yet (too cold). Will update this in April
It has a colour screen that's clear and easy to read, and whilst I wish the screen had been a little bigger, it serves its purpose and I guess there is a good reason for its size (battery life, internal components etc)
It also uses GLONASS as well as GPS to increase accuracy, and as a result it gets a GPS lock in seconds as oppose to minutes.
Its lighter and thinner than its predecessor and is usable as a watch unlike the 910xt.
This new watch is also compatible with garmin apps, so expect some new cool features to be made available.
Wifi connectivity so your workouts are loaded up as you step back in the door, and bluetooth so you can get notifications on your watch whilst training.
A couple of negatives.
The styling, some like it, some dont, most triathletes wouldn't care what it looks like though.
I mostly like it but a solid black unit like the 910xt might have been better.
The price, Garmin have really ramped the price of these up significantly. That said, spec wise its better than anything on the market right now so I guess they can charge a premium.
The release, Garmin failed to mention that approximately one month after the release of this watch, they would be releasing a further two GPS watches, the fenix3 and epix. Both with nearly every feature the 920xt and some extra navigational ones.
All that and the fenix3 is available cheaper than the 920XT.
Cue nearly everyone who flocked to buy this watch on release now wanting the fenix3 instead, myself included!
All in all its a brilliant watch and I'd certainly recommend it if you wanted the best in GPS watches.
For an indepth review of all the watches mentioned search "DC Rainmaker", there you will find all the info you'll ever need on training watches
