Edge 500 – Black/Silver
Sharpen your cycling performance with Edge 500 in black and silver (also available in black/red and blue/silver). This lightweight GPS-based cycling computer is great for performance-driven cyclists. Loaded with data, Edge 500 tracks your distance, speed, location, and elevation with high sensitivity GPS. Add an ANT+ compatible heart rate monitor, speed/cadence sensor or compatible power meter such as the Garmin Vector for a finely-tuned analysis of your ride (available separately).
Jumpstart Your Training
The Edge 500 attaches easily to the stem or handlebars of your bike with its low-profile bike mount. The Edge attaches easily to the mount with a simple quarter-turn. When you're ready to ride, just power on your Edge, acquire GPS satellites and go. Edge 500 features a high-sensitivity GPS receiver with HotFix satellite prediction to calculate your position faster.
Attaches Easily To Handlebars
During your ride, Edge 500 measures your speed, distance, time, calories burned, altitude, climb and descent, and records this data for your review. For extra-precise climb and descent data, Edge 500 also incorporates a barometric altimeter to pinpoint changes in elevation.
Works With A Power Meter
Edge 500 is also compatible with ANT+ power meters, including Vector, Garmin’s pedal-based power meter that measures total power, left/right balance and cadence. This valuable data shows you how hard you're working, regardless of conditions affecting your ride, so you can train smarter. It is also compatible with ANT+ heart rate monitors and speed/cadence sensors (available separately).
Other helpful training features include a Courses feature, which helps you compare successive rides over the same route, as well as Auto Pause, Auto Lap and temperature readings. Edge also alerts you if you’re moving but the timer is not running.
Analyse Your Ride
You logged the miles, now it’s time to review, replay and share your ride. Just upload your data to Garmin Connect online, Garmin’s website for free data analysis and sharing. You can upload from your PC or Mac using a USB cable. At Garmin Connect, you can see the route you’ve ridden on a map, view a summary of your ride, create goals, share rides and data with others and much more.

Garmin Edge 500 - Black and Silver
Top Customer Reviews
It's all really simple to set up and the included heart rate monitor is really comfortable. There's so much more data to look at when you get back to once you've uploaded it to Garmin Connect.
All in all, this GPS unit is really good. There's every bit of data a cyclist could want really and more, all in a really nice small unit which also happens to look good (and the red and black match my bike perfectly!!)
Only gripe I had was that the buttons on the sides to change screens etc are a bit small and fiddly, especially in these winter months when you're always wearing gloves. Shouldn't be as much of an issue in summer, but with full finger gloves on it does get a bit annoying.
Other than that, I'm impressed and I love my Edge 500!

Great bike computer, just a pity that the combined cadence/speed sensor times out and drops connection if not continually having a sensor move across it. Read morePublished 14 months ago by C. Ferris
