My 10 year old son who has recently been diagnosed as dyslexic loved this book. I'm hoping that now I've found the series that he will start to enjoy reading rather than see it as a chore. I'm hoping that one day I see him pick up a book voluntarily. Thank you for providing him with the opportunity to become an independent reader.

My seven year old son wanted this book. He'd read it at school and really liked it. The 4U2read Barrington Stoke books were apparently written to help dyslexic children but from what I have seen they are suitable chapter books for all new readers. The print is easy to read, the vocabulary gently pushes the children on and the grammar is good (unlike many children's books, especially those based on TV series!!).

I used to help with listening to children read at my son's primary school and I know that this is one of the most popular books in the whole library for boys aged 6-8. There was always a waiting list for it and it was one of the few books that all the boys liked to read (even the ones who did not like reading). There was such a waiting list of boys, that I never actually saw a girl read it.

The story is about a boy who buys a video game from a spooky shop and then finds himself in the game with all the consequent life-threatening dangers. It is clever because it is arranged around getting to the next level, so every time the child completes a level, he's also just completed a chapter.

I would highly recommend this book for boys age 6 to 8 years

Fantastic book. My son would not read and this is the first ever book he has actually finished and enjoyed. Usually he would just read half a Mr. Men book but this book he was so into. He found it much much easier to read with the off white pages, different font and more paragraphs. The text on each page is just enough and he read it pretty well. Its quite a short book too and he is very proud of himself now he has finished a book. He even sat on the sofa this morning before breakfast and read a few pages. Unheard of!!!

Very impressed, will by more in the series.

The best collection of books ever. You must buy from Barringron Stoke if you want your kids to enjoy reading with no pressure. High age interest, lower reading age needed. Worked with kids with dyslexia, (my son has this too), and other additional learning needs, I personally would highly recommend!

This is the first Barrington Stoke book we've tried. my 9 year old son who struggles to read enjoyed it, he certainly seemed to make fewer mistakes and read it willingly and quite fluently (which made it more enjoyable). He finished it quickly and was able to recall the story to me. I'm not sure if the plot was exciting enough to encourage him to re-read it though.
