Another collection of fast and lively songs and tunes in Kíla's gloriously eclectic style. World, Irish and Street music collide in a fusion of fun and full-on energy.
Irish band Kila have been perfecting their musical skills for over twenty years. They formed in Colaiste Eoin school in Dublin, back in 1987. Since then they have travelled and toured extensively across the globe, enriching their musical skills and rich vocabulary of sounds.
Bubbling over with new ideas, but still full of the energetic tunes and percussive Gaelic vocals that are Kila's trademark.

Opener "Leath Ina Dhiadh A Hocht" (Half Eight) is an ecstatic paean to a great night out while the passionate "Seo Me Leaba" sounds like an African love song which somehow got translated into Gaelic. "Her Royal Waggledy Toes" has jazz tin whistle, and "Cardinal Knowledge" contains some of the most aggressive flute playing I've ever heard. "Fir Bolg" is an fiddle-led Eastern European tune which later morphs into something which Robert Rodrigues might be proud of for one of his ironic westerns, and the wild and woolly "Boy Racer" has so much energy it could resurrect a corpse.
Fusion is a concept which doesn't always work, but that can't be said of this nuclear blend of influences, energy and sheer musical joy. Kila's instrumentals are so strong that you don't miss a vocal for a moment - and it's almost impossible not to get up and dance, so don't listen to this album in the car!

Try to listen to it all before buying.
Slightly less of a consistent knockout than their previous masterwork, GB nonetheless asserts why the inventive Irish group continues to enjoy a reputation as one of the country's most visionary groups..... Now if less tracks insisted on rustic oddball folk and exhibited the unbridled melodic joy found wrapped around "Her Royal Waggeldy Toes", we'd really have a historical force.
