Top Customer Reviews

Most years we drive in different countries of Europe, and each time we take Michelin maps in this scale (1/400,000). They are simply unbeatable. Here is why.

* They are always up-to-date: On our recent holiday we also had Satellite Navigation in our car, and despite getting the latest Sat-Nav disc for Spain, this Galicia map was much more accurate; it had several newly opened roads that did not show on the Sat-Nav system.

* They fold so easily, and tidily: You can fold and use them without opening up the whole map, with vast swathes of paper obscuring the navigator's view! Only the bit you need is open, and you can move to the next, while keeping the map-folds the right way.

* They integrate with all the other Michelin maps and guides, like the Red and Green Guides: So our trip into Santiago - the busy, congested, major city in Galicia - was simple. The numbered routes on this map all link into the city maps in the Red Guide.

* They include virtually every small, unclassified road: This means that you can enjoy trips off the beaten track. And in rural places, like Galicia, with its glorious coastal routes, this presents a chance to discover remote and peaceful beaches.

Anyone who has never used Michelin maps really should give them a try. Even with the new technology available nowadays, we would never be without them on our European trips.

Poor road signage is not helped by inaccurate information on parts of this map - particularly the northern Portugal area. could do with better road numbering. although published in 2012 there were new roads which were not on the map leading to huge confusion.

This map shows a lot more than just Galicia it even goes as far east as Leon, so quite a good general map of North-Western Spain. But if you really want a detailed map of Galicia to follow some of the smaller coast roads then I'd advise you to get the 1:150000 ZOOM map Costa De Galicia (Michelin Zoom Maps). Despite the name, it actually covers 80% of Galicia, with only the extreme south-east corner bordering Portugal not shown.

This Galicia map is a 1/400 000 scale where as the Austuria map (572) adjacent is 1/250 000 , so I was a bit disappointed as I thought they would be the same scale from the same series. My road map atlas was already 1: 400 000 but this does look more clear to read.
