The plot of this has been worked many times, two rival and advanced civilisations battling between themselves with the humans in the middle and basically getting in the way. Throughout the whole book there are numerous violent battles and thrown into the mix are the human main characters and an android which provides an unusual romantic interest. The strength of this book is the style and description of the characters, locations and action scenes; I particularly liked the cyborg, Genie. I can visualise without effort the whole story which to me is no bad thing. It is also an easy read and does not try to be clever by baffling me with pseudo-scientific terms. This is part one of a series and when it ends it is obvious there is more to come but it still reads well as a standalone I will probably read the next oneGALAXY OF HEROES II: War Heroes.

A great read and a great selection of characters to get to know, This is a story of the little guy versus the big bad guys in a good old fashioned Sci-Fi, great action will have you keep on turning page after page not wanting to put the book down.
Very enjoyable reading.

The basic premise is of two warring empires fighting over the galaxy. The remnants of humanity are in effect a lost tribe amongst other alien species struggling to survive and to find a home world for themselves. In some ways it reminded me of Battle Star Galactica.
The main characters are three dysfunctional humans and a cyborg who are in essence just trying to survive. That is about it though. There are hinted at sub plots and some passages that try to explain some background but not enough to hold it together. I am yet to read the next in the series and am trying to decide whether or not to bother.
If you like the older school Asimov type sci film then stay away.
If you prefer more back character and detail along the lines of more modern space opera such as Randolphe Lalonde then it will while away a bit of time while you find something more engaging.
If you just want a decent enough read for holiday or a few hours on a rainy afternoon then go ahead. Does what it needs to....whiles a way some time.

At 1st, this was a difficult read to get into. Everything is written in brief, there's no real descriptors of anything, and it reads like a serialised cartoon strip. I wanted to give this 2 or 3 stars as a rating, but despite all its faults, it is still a fun, quick read, something a youngster might enjoy.

Clumsy, badly written, dystopian goriness. I do like to finish a book but I rarely need to check the marker to see how much more I have to get through.... Now it gets deleted.

Enjoyed the story about a loosely connected group of characters who may come together in the future and join forces in an all too obvious epic battle.

I doubt that I will purchase any further installments as I am just not bothered about the main players, the Battlestar Galactica similarities did not go unnoticed.

Great story- not too taxing to read. Great characters that you will warm to as the story progresses. (Every sci-fi needs a cyborg like Genie). As soon as I read this I had to download the second instalment!

Enjoyed reading this. Interesting twists on the usual set of characters. Enjoyed it enough to buy the sequel, which I also enjoyed.
