Format: Kindle Edition
A deeply emotional story set in a kinder age about two people have to find their own way to each other.
I admit to being a fan of Annemarie Brear, but still she manages to surprise me with her novels. The settings are always vivid and her characters are individual, with flaws and past mistakes which threaten their futures. The story lines are never quite what I expect, often resulting into reading into the small hours to find out what happens.

An enjoyable story with a plethora of interesting characters. A classic tale of the power of an indomitable spirit overcoming hardship and heartbreak.

Brear writes wonderful Victorian Drama. I am a fan of hers but hadn't read this and was pleased when I was offered a copy to review. It doesn't disappoint. Strong characters, the devastation of an unwed mother whose family have turned away from her. Her writing always tugs the heart.

and I must say that once again I thoroughly enjoyed the story. The characters come alive and the descriptions are good without getting boring. The two books I have read so far have both been totally different. Eventually I can get bored with an author as sometimes the stories are the same old same old. Leaving now to download another by this author.
