This is an excellent film portraying the split of India in 1947 as it shows the true extent of the Hindu-Muslim riots that erupted. Considering it was Zee's first big-budget production, I believe that they have done a fantastic job. Of the performances, Sunny Deol is at his best. He's never looked better and carries the film effortlessly on his broad shoulders, whilst Amrisha patel gives a mature and honest performance. In my opinion Gadar is worth the watch for its brilliant dramatic and confrontation sequences, splendid performances and touching moments that overpower its only flaw- having a weak musical score. Even though some say that the film was too long and could be trimmed, in my opinion the length is just right.
