Product Description

GUNSHIP is a neon soaked, late night, sonic getaway drive, dripping with luscious analogue synthesizers, cinematic vocals and cyberpunk values, exploding from the front cover of a dusty plastic VHS case which has lain forgotten since 1984. Created by Dan Haigh, Alex Westaway and Alex Gingell, GUNSHIP is an evolution of the of the recently popularised synthwave genre, which was originally started by Rosso Corsa records & The Valerie Collective artists.

GUNSHIP is more of a story than a soundtrack, written large across an eighties action cinema screen, where the narrative interweaves romance, hope, fear, technology, the threat of nuclear obliteration, and ultimately the need to celebrate life. Both bleak and dystopian at times but also progressive, uplifting and danceable.

The new album also features guest vocals by John Carpenter, Charlie Simpson (Fightstar), Lou Hayter (New Young Pony Club), Martin Grech, and Stella Le Page. Upcoming remixes include Miami Nights 1984, Make Up And Vanity Set, April Towers and Carpenter Brut.

Gunship is the lost soundtrack for a generation brought up on a diet of 80s popular culture. Make no mistake, this album is the find of the year and is destined for cult status. Introduced to it via collaborator Martin Grech, this CD has been on a loop for days on end now; and I can scarcely see its appeal diminishing.

I feel it's more than simply a homage to the oft-maligned decade, such is their authenticity that any of the tracks would not be out of place heard on a preppy high-school coming-of-age or a dystopian sci-fi flick. Boosting their 'cool' quotient further still they've managed to enlist the services of 80s legend John Carpenter on Tech Noir (possibly one of the finest tracks on the album to boot).

Opening track The Mountain, with its pulsing synths and vocal arrangements, is guaranteed to put a nostalgic smile on your face. From there the album carries on in the same vein, though never feeling same-y, with track after track of effortless synth pop heaven. I guarantee that you will punch the air at least once after listening to this for the first time.

My happiness will be complete should they announce any live UK dates. Neon glo-sticks a-go-go.

Fresh, catchy, interesting and so so retro!!! Love the 80's character synth sound on this album. No fear though as this isnt a cheesy remake of those poppy one hit wonders.
This is new, serious, engaging music!
Being a nostalgia prone wrinkly I thought I'd test how good this album is and was pleased to see the nodding acknowledgement of my ten year old daughter.
A drive time classic for me! Well produced, great songs and packed with ear worms.... When "Tech Noir" isn't playing on my CD player its playing in my head. If you can watch the video for "Fly for your life" do so its a visual and audio treat.

100% recommended

Embrace the 80s - embrace the midlife crisis.. buy a white sports coupe, get some wrap around sunglasses, or aviators..
Perhaps a white suits, pastel socks and a pleather belt.. wear the lot with a pastel tshirt.

Now go cruise about town.

Go on..

This Album and Neon Neon Stainless Style are fantastic for just that.

That is of course if you're not into Jan Hammer.

What an excellent feat in retrofuturism. Thoughtful songs with amazing production. And John Carpenter is even featured, like come on what more do you need!? The videos that accompany many of these songs are as well unbelievably unique and imaginative. Truly one of my fave albums.

I love it when you find a new band to listen to and instantly fall in love with them! I found this album thanks to Lee Hardcastle's music video for the track 'Tech Noi' (check it out if you haven't seen it). I love that 80's sound. Brilliant band, brilliant album. I can't stop listening to it!

If you like the sound of the 80's and pure awesomeness you will love this album.

Gunship is a perfect replica of 80's filmic music - but a better and improved version. I've just listened to this CD for the first time and it is going to be played a lot. There is not one track that I don't like on this album and the three remixes at the end are pretty good too - I love it. I hope there are going to be more Gunship releases like this one.

Fantastic retro 80s-style synth-pop. It could be the soundtrack to any number of classic 80s movies, except that it isn't. This is GUNSHIP. Hypnotic, melodic, modern but with a classic twist, this is a must-have album for any serious music lover. It's hi-res VHS for your ears. Check out their YouTube videos for extra goodness!

I'm not that great at writing reviews but I HAD to say how much I LOVE this album! GUNSHIP came outta nowhere and took me completely by surprise! I first saw that fantastic video for 'Fly for your Life' on Bloody Disgusting website and I was hooked! I have waited for this day ever since - the day that I would own this wonderful music on CD. Listening to these tracks is like being in a time-machine that takes me back to the greatest decade of all - the 1980's! If you are fan of the films of John Carpenter and other classics such as The Terminator, Robocop, Blade Runner and other such classic movies from the 80's, you MUST buy this album NOW! I reckon my favourite track is 'Shadow Fury' (the track you may recall from the 'teaser' video that featured short clips from Cobra. Aliens, Commando, The Goonies, Predator and so many other classic films) but once again, I must stress that EVERY SINGLE track in just pure, 80's-synth AWESOMENESS!! This is by far my album of 2015 and NOTHING can come close! 5 Stars!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
