GUNSHIP is a neon soaked, late night, sonic getaway drive, dripping with luscious analogue synthesizers, cinematic vocals and cyberpunk values, exploding from the front cover of a dusty plastic VHS case which has lain forgotten since 1984. Created by Dan Haigh, Alex Westaway and Alex Gingell, GUNSHIP is an evolution of the of the recently popularised synthwave genre, which was originally started by Rosso Corsa records & The Valerie Collective artists.
GUNSHIP is more of a story than a soundtrack, written large across an eighties action cinema screen, where the narrative interweaves romance, hope, fear, technology, the threat of nuclear obliteration, and ultimately the need to celebrate life. Both bleak and dystopian at times but also progressive, uplifting and danceable.
The new album also features guest vocals by John Carpenter, Charlie Simpson (Fightstar), Lou Hayter (New Young Pony Club), Martin Grech, and Stella Le Page. Upcoming remixes include Miami Nights 1984, Make Up And Vanity Set, April Towers and Carpenter Brut.

Perhaps a white suits, pastel socks and a pleather belt.. wear the lot with a pastel tshirt.
Now go cruise about town.
This Album and Neon Neon Stainless Style are fantastic for just that.
That is of course if you're not into Jan Hammer.
I feel it's more than simply a homage to the oft-maligned decade, such is their authenticity that any of the tracks would not be out of place heard on a preppy high-school coming-of-age or a dystopian sci-fi flick. Boosting their 'cool' quotient further still they've managed to enlist the services of 80s legend John Carpenter on Tech Noir (possibly one of the finest tracks on the album to boot).
Opening track The Mountain, with its pulsing synths and vocal arrangements, is guaranteed to put a nostalgic smile on your face. From there the album carries on in the same vein, though never feeling same-y, with track after track of effortless synth pop heaven. I guarantee that you will punch the air at least once after listening to this for the first time.
My happiness will be complete should they announce any live UK dates. Neon glo-sticks a-go-go.
This is new, serious, engaging music!
Being a nostalgia prone wrinkly I thought I'd test how good this album is and was pleased to see the nodding acknowledgement of my ten year old daughter.
A drive time classic for me! Well produced, great songs and packed with ear worms.... When "Tech Noir" isn't playing on my CD player its playing in my head. If you can watch the video for "Fly for your life" do so its a visual and audio treat.

Easily one of the best albums I've ever heard.
Buy it! ;-)
Gunship is very much for those who enjoy synth pop, simply put if you don't enjoy music that could have been ripped from an 80s action movie like a John Carpenter movie or... Read morePublished 9 months ago by Sam Cherry
