The book is comprehensive and written in the usual Dummies 'chatty' style.
I deducted 1-star because I felt this book could have included many more examples of GPS equipment familiar to European customers. They do receive a brief mention but I felt they could have been expanded upon.
This edition was published in 2008 so a third 'updated' edition ought to be published soon.
The book is practically ALL America (with a little Canada & Europe mentioned in passing). Most pages are on American Mapping & it only tends to cover the big three GPS manufacturers.
It does explain how GPS & WAAS work, but does not cover EGNOS. If you want to use your GPS in the US, it's OK! I've used Dummies guides & they are usually excellent - but for anyone outside the US; Give this a miss!
