OMG! I'm loving this! When I was growing up in the 70's, my family had a red version of this phone and when I saw this on Amazon, I had to get one.
I'm so happy with my purchase. It looks, feels, and more importantly, sounds just as I remembered!
There is nothing flimsy about this phone. The chassis is a good quality build, nice and heavy. The handset is slightly lighter than the original phone in the 70's but that takes nothing away from it.
The rotary dial isn't as tightly wound as I remember the original being, but again, this is not an issue, as it is adapted for pulse tone. There is also a # and * on the dial for use with telephonic menu options, i.e banks, etc.
This has the actual bell as the ringer, which threw me straight back to the 70's when I first heard it. Loved it!
There is an ON/OFF switch for the ringer and you have a choice of Normal or High for the ringer also. I keep mine on High, just because I love hearing the phone ring throughout my home :)
The sound quality on the line is great. No distortion, no crackling and those I've called on it, have said that they hear me perfectly clearly. I also have a cordless phone plugged into another socket and there is no interference with either.
GPO have made a quality product that I'm happy to recommend to anyone who is thinking of buying from this brand.
