1.0 out of 5 stars Uninformed Author 28 Nov. 2012
By Rebecca - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
I was looking forward to reading this book to get some fresh new ideas for Thanksgiving. I am SO GLAD I got it for free!!!
There are a few good ideas, but I found that most of the book sounds like an advertisement for the author's favorite products, complete with links to the companies' websites. It is possible that she could be a spokesperson for Trader Joe's, as many times as their store brand products are mentioned.
A few things the author got wrong (there are more than this...) - Pamela's Products cookies are not hard enough to "break a tooth" as the author wrote. Brewer's Yeast is not gluten free; however Brewer's Yeast nutritional supplements *sometimes* are made from sugar (as opposed to from actual Brewer's Yeast). There are a number of great gluten free breads. As much as I enjoy Udi's Chocolate muffins, they are NOT the best possible substitute for chocolate cake... but GF chocolate cake IS, and many companies have excellent mixes!!
The web links actually got in the way of the information that the book did present, since I use a Kindle Touch. Many times, I went to turn the page, it tried to follow the link.
Frustrated with the fact that "just anybody" can write a book like this, then to find out that the author is an actual journalist... who did not do her research.
1.0 out of 5 stars Pretty blah. 8 Nov. 2013

This book is really just an introduction with a list of one person's opinions about commercially available gluten free foods. I have been eating gluten free for a few years and found the ideas to be pretty obvious.

The recipes that I have tried taste great. Nice to finally have something different for large family gatherings that the people who can eat everything will eat too.

This book is pretty good, but we were able to adapt some of our regular recipes to be gluten free a little easier.
