I was looking for a small, very light, speaker for my new ipod nano that I could take on holiday and use in places like hotels. The StreetParty Size Zero seemed like an ideal speaker for the job, with a reported weight of 300g and dimensions not much bigger than an average paperback book.

It is indeed a very small speaker. Thin and light. The ipod nano fits very well on the dock, though note if you keep your ipod in a protective case like I do you may have to take it out of the case to quickly get a good connection.

Sound quality is excellent, and the volume should be more than enough for most purposes. But here's the problem - there is quite a bit of interference (probably coming from the adaptor). Sometimes it sounds like it's picking up morse code, sometimes it's more of an irritating buzz. When listening to music, particularly at high volumes, you won't notice it. If however you are a fan of podcasts or audiobooks then this speaker makes them unlistenable.

I didn't know if this was an isolated problem or not, so I tried it in different locations around the house with the same result. Then I took it back to the Retailer and they tried it in the store with the same result. As a final test they tried a new speaker fresh out of the box and the same thing happened. It's disappointing becuase this really is a great looking product.

I was mad enough to go & spend £50 on these in a high street electronics retailer - then read the other review for this product, and was anticipating being disappointed.....how wrong could I have been!

Sound quality is surprisingly very good, and I am a bit of an audio freak, so praise indeed. Even the bass is respectable, considering the speaker is about 2cm deep. Not sure it'll hack drum 'n bass, but can't knock it for the size & weight.

While it won't replace a dedicated iPod dock & speakers at home, its more than handy for weekends away, or holidays.

If you need a very slim, fairly lightweight speaker for an Ipod, you could do much much worse!

It's a nice looking product, but at first I thought it didn't work at all with the ipod touch 2nd gen. When you put the ipod touch into the docking station the sound just comes out of the internal speakers, the speaker system of the Gear 4 don't kick in. I realise now that to deactivate the internal speakers of the ipod touch you need to have something in the headphone jack, but because the headphone jack is on the same side as the docking/connection port of the ipod touch you can't have it in the Gear 4 system at the same time! So to use the speakers you have to take the ipod touch off of the Gear 4 speakers and attach a double ended lead between the ipod touch & Gear 4 speakers & then it works fine, although doesn't look as good! You don't have this problem with ipod nano for example as the Gear 4 speakers kick in automatically, it's just any ipod with internal speakers built in. You can use the Gear 4 to charge your ipod touch, but not to play music through whilst its attached...unless I've missed something!

This is an excellent little product and a bargain at £35 odd pounds. To get the best out of the unit, you need to access the EQ menu on your ipod and select "small speakers". This transforms the sounds from something inside a tin to a well rounded sound and remarkable coming from so small an item. I have not experienced any feedback but I would suggest that you give it a dedicated socket so it doesn't get any interference from anything else you might be running at the same time. Equally don't place it near the mobile.

This is a fabulous item and means I can now access my full CD library in the kitchen as, apparently, my singing voice without any accompanying music needs some attention (I don't know what he can mean!!).

    Enjoy!

I bought the Streetparty speaker to take on a skiing holiday mainly because it was so thin and small and it wouldn't take up room in my luggage.

I was so pleased when it arrived and it sounded amazing and charged my ipod when docked. The sound is so good that it's used for dinner parties and gatherings and its so portable to move from room to room.

    I'd recommend it to anyone

I actually got this free when I bought my iPod Touch this past weekend and have been using it at work. The sound is very good and it's very light so easily portable between home and work and from room to room. Considering the iPod Touch doesn't come with a mains charger this comes in handy for non USB charging too.

The only negative is getting the iPod Touch to dock onto the speaker system which is quite stiff so you have to be careful to not break the connecting socket on your iPod or the connecting plug of the docking system.

The remote comtrol is nice and small - I have enough book sized remotes in the lounge so its nice to have a sleak one for a change. It not only controls the volume of the music but also lets you navigate through the music library on your iPod so you can change album without getting up. It also has 'loop' and 'random play' buttons so you can change the playing mode at the click of a button.

All in all I'd say it's a very good speaker system for anyone with an iPod who wants mobility and functinality. Also comes with a padded case and both UK and European plug connectors - great!
