I received this DVD as a Christmas present. I added the dvd to my wishlist after reading several reviews on this site - I now wish that I hadn't...
The storyline is weak and bitty, the acting is rather poor, the sets are minimal to say the least and the dialogue is awful! I've watched many films from this genre including the 'Football Factory (Special Edition) [2004] [DVD], Cass [DVD], 'Goodbye Charlie Bright', 'Green Street', 'Away Days', 'Rise Of The Footsoldier - Single Disc Edition [2007] [DVD]' etc so so my reason for disliking the (so called) movie was not because I didn't know what to expect.
I just wish that more people had reviewed this film for exactly what it is - dull and very, very poor.
I felt misled and ended up wishing my girlfriend had not wasted her money. This is my first review since I joined amazon 10 or so years ago because I feel that the reviews don't represent the product - my personal view, I know, but that's what this this for... hope it helps.

This is a police drama that centers around Damian (Nick Nevern ) a complex character. Damian is from north London a poor working class area with high unemployment, rage, and domestic violence. The film gives us glimpses of Damian's past, building upon the scene each time.

Damian wants to do good, but at the same time has self destructive tendencies. The problems that he creates by his attempts to do good is smartly contrasted with his own life.

The complexity of Damian's character is well done and the center piece of this film. The picture was originally supposed be titled, "Riots" but that was already taken. If you are not burned out by British cop/riot dramas, this is worth the watch.

Parental Guide: F-bombs, sex, nudity, rape.

documentary......many of us were living this during the day,and watching it at night.it described our lives with uncanny accuracy.unrealistic in that it did not show the terror of being under the control of jumped up thugs and louts:how could it?it is still unsafe to speak the truth about those dreadful days....and the sleepless nights which went with them.i would very much like to be more specific,,,,,but not yet.many of those thugs are still in the positions they weaseled their way into.never has a play more accurately summed up the anguish of a moment in the life of a society, except perhaps" the crucible".....................there are no car chases,no fridge shots, and no lingering telephoto shots of the harvest moon.no shoulder holsters, and no one is taken to"the haspiddle"so be warned.

Visually stunning and incredibly gritty, Nick Nevern's finest film. I can't though believe this was directed by Simon Phillips considering the dog sh*t films he's 'starred' in and directed over the past few years. Credit though, this is an excellent British film with great casting, visuals and story.

From the start we see a Riot scene straight in with the action. You have to feel sorry from the start for Damien (Nick Nevern). He has to make a choice Hooligan 1st Cop 2nd.Damien is a very very strong character with a short fuse.Kellie Shirley (Eastenders) also plays a cop and Damiens sidekick. This film is a cross between The Long Good Friday and The Sweeney also starring (Nick Nevern). These scenes are very dramatic and violent.Nicks Character reminds me of the Character Ricci Harnett played in Rise Of The Footsoldier.Damien visits his Dad (Mark Harris) in Prison and it's not a pleasant experience. Before joining up Damien ran A Firm of football Hooligans but he is trying to put his past behind him can he do it or not.Well you will have to watch the film to find out.Nick Nevern is an Actor to watch out for He has a string of films behind him and he is destined to be the next big thing. One thing is for sure I would not like to meet Nick on a bad day.

Powerful, gritty, intense, dark, intriguing. Keeps you gripped from beginning to end. Excellent cast and an outstanding performance from Nick Nevern as Damien, good cop / bad cop. Wonderful to see British film is still on top form!

I have watched this film twice, I have watched everything that Nick Nevern is in(since Dream Team) as he is a cracking actor, Obviously heading for great things, I have enjoyed all his performances but in this particular film he is outstanding ,he gets the character just right, with the decent bloke with something brewing inside and you just know sometime he is going to blow, Kellie Shirley also surprised me how great she was, and she looks like having a very bright future too, I won't give away the film ,but I will say that you will be on the edge of your seat for the whole film ,you don't have any chance to relax, it's British cinema at it's best,Enjoy .

PS It's also got one of my favorite all time Thespians in it too,Steven Berkoff (legend)

A film that promised much, but failed to deliver, still watchable but could have been so much better, strange that it would have all the elements but still fail in the enthrallment factor.
