The extra function keys for the thumbs are just brilliantly placed. I've seen other keyboards with more function / macro keys, but they put them in unreachable places. Gamdias's solution is so simple and comfortable. It gives you Easy control of weapons choice, comms, posture or whatever you desire without stretching any fingers away from the main movement controls. The fact they are separate from the main bank of keys also makes them easy to locate without looking down. Brightness of the keys is just right, build quality excellent and the detachable magnetic wrist rest/ cover is the best such design I have seen
First of all the build quality is brilliant I feel it could last ten times longer than a regular keyboard. It's lovely and heavy so it doesn't move. The macro keys are great and well placed but the Hera software is a little messy to use. I love the wrist rest; it's about ¾ the size of the actual keyboard and is one of the first actual rests I have wanted to use with a keyboard.
I did have a major issue with the board when gaming where, if you pressed down several keys at the same time and released one of them they keyboard would not recognised that the key had been released. This keyboard is supposed to have 6 and N key roll over anti ghosting. An example of this is when I used it in Guild Wars 2. Running forward with the "W" key and then pressing and releasing the "E" key to use a skill while still moving. The Gamdias would register that "W" was pressed, then "E" was also pressed but it did NOT register that "E" was released if let go before the "W" the only way I could get it to work was to release all keys which is a problem when gaming and you have to keep moving onscreen. The keys all work normally individually and when typing, infact the Cherry blue keys with the rubber element are a joy to use, and it's only a problem if you need released keys to register while holding down other keys. I did some testing with "Passmark's" keyboard testing software and found that the keys "weruiop" and "9" on the number pad were affected.
I had a replacement from Novatech but unfortunately the second keyboard had exactly the same problem. So it seems to be an issue with the keyboards are made. Can anyone else test theirs? This is really strange as with all mechanical keyboards each key is an individual switch. I have updated the firmware but this didn't fix anything. Think I'll go for a corsair or Gigabyte keyboard next time. Thanks to Novatech for their returns service and customer support who are excellent, although the returns tester (Greg) was a bit condescending questioning why I would need to press and hold several keys while gaming.
