Brought up in the north-east, G.M. Best studied history at Exeter College, Oxford and had a distinguished career in education, culminating in 21 years as Headmaster of Kingswood School in Bath. He has written widely on Methodist history, including a very successful biography of Charles Wesley, and is currently Warden of John Wesley's Chapel in Bristol and a member of the Methodist Heritage Committee. Among his non-fiction works is a highly regarded book on Christian education called 'Transforming Lives'. His first novel, 'Oliver Twist Investigates' came out in 2010 and was hailed as 'intriguing...innovative...gripping.. a tantalizing maze of clues'. His second novel 'Wuthering Heights Revisited' is to be published in December 2011 and he is currently working on his third, which will be set in eighteenth century Bath. He has also written a musical called 'Marley's Ghosts' based on the work of Gilbert and Sullivan.
