What can I say that I haven't said before about, what has to be, one of the finest shows on TV at the moment? For scifi geek/nerds like me, it's seventh heaven. Funny, sharp, satirical and sometimes a little racy, FUTURAMA is simply a sublime animated comedy show that is nothing like its creator's other famous child - THE SIMPSONS. It's tone and style is actually closer to another favourite of mine - FAMILY GUY. Fry, Leela, Bender et al are much more like the dysfunctional Griffin family at the centre of that show than the co-workers they're supposed to be.
This two disc set is packed with extra features and commentaries on all the episodes and the picture is sharp and bright.
Again, only two minor complaints. The dangerous, cardboard slit pocket case the discs are supplied in has got to go and I really didn't care for the final episode that reimagined the FUTURAMA characters as wildlife. That aside, I highly recommend season 7 to FUTURAMA vets and newbies alike.
Contains 13 episodes; however the Season has 26... and this DVD is the first 13, and not the last...
[EDIT: On Amazon the other half of season 7 (the last 13 episodes) is called "Season 8". Hence my confusion. In short this is the first half of the last season, and not the whole season as I believed]
As with season 6, this is region free. (1st April for Season 6 UK release, now that is funny) Only sad thing is the still present crap cardboard packaging, still costs I suppose. So if you don't want to wait till space year 2014/15 pick it up, some great episodes in there.
This set contains 13 episodes over 2 discs and continues to be my favourite animated comedy. Its so imaginative, witty and gorgeous to look at.
This set comes in a plastic Amaray case with a nice cardboard sleeve and 4 art-cards which are nice little extras. It also states season 8 (really Season 7 part 2) is coming to DVD soon, so maybe Fox have finally got their futuristic finger out and are speeding up these releases for us UK fans.
Contains deleted scenes and commentaries along with some featurettes. Has subtitles in English, Finnish, German and French. Episodes are presented in widescreen.
A great purchase - recommended!
It's as good as ever - my own favourite is where we get to see some of Prof Farnsworths backstory and meet his parents
Virtual retirement homes seem a good idea to me....
Also some glorious Fry/Leela interaction!. The extras are good - two mobius background loops you can use to pretend your TV is an aquarium or terrarium (darn funny specimens, though!) and (be still my quaking heart!) Futurama Karaoke with or without soundtrack vocals...
Plus the usual deleted scenes.
One negative - the packing is not nearly as good as the UK releases, being cardboardsleeves within cardboard - I'm not too keen about sliding discs in between cardboard surfaces. Bad form!
