If you've read the Lock and Key series you'd of met Finger already.
He's one of those characters who jumps off the pages as soon as you meet him. He intrigues you right away and you're just itching to know EVERYTHING about him. Well that was exactly how I felt and now I've read his story I can say it completely consumed me.
We go right to the beginning when he was just a boy, we see him joining his Fathers MC and living at the club house then eventually becoming a prospect.
But as we all know MC life is brutal and full of danger, when Finger is taken by another MC and held hostage his life will be changed forever.
It broke my heart learning how he got the Road name of Finger the things he endured were horrific and you just want to cry for him.
During this time he meets a girl who he forms a bond with, a bond which helps them both survive. Just like him she's held captive and forced to suffer unimaginable cruelty.
This is their story and its devastatingly beautiful full of tragedy that spans well over 20 years from when they first meet.
This book will take you on an amazing journey my heart physically broke for these two. I was an emotional mess. But it was so worth it.
It's a very powerful cleverly thought out story with lots of attention to details, it coincided perfectly with the Lock and Key series and brought a smile to my face. I loved the trip down memory lane.
There's a couple of new characters that I'm hoping get their story too because they'd make for some interesting reading that's for sure.
Do yourself a favour and read this one. You won't be sorry.
It's now my favourite Cat Porter book to date.
The cover for this book could not be anymore perfect it speaks a thousand words and it's breathtaking. I could stare at it all day.
This is a dark and depressing read, with lots of triggers - good grief these two suffered and endured more than is possible to believe two people could go through! And it went on and on. The second half of the book dragged, I didn't want to read about things that had already happened in previous books - I wanted to see the ROMANCE and supposed deep love that they had for each other grow and flourish instead of them being apart for virtually the entire book. Lenore's ridiculously STUPID choices hacked me off no end and added to their pain and misery. Why didn't they FIGHT for each other instead of walking away? I don't get that. The twists came about way too late in the book, but by then I had more or less lost interest and read with glazed eyes just to call it done. The huge reveal should have played a much bigger part and a lot earlier too instead of the heavy focus on the various club politics that swamped the story.
Loved catching up with characters from the Lock & Key series and especially loved Tania, she was a total star, but I really didn't see the point of the threesome?? That was totally out of character for ALL of them, unnecessary and didn't add to the story at all.
I've said this already but I'm so disappointed it bears repeating! For me, this was not a romance, it was a lifetime of sadness steeped in misery and left me unsettled, frustrated and sad despite the sweet ending which was too little, too late.
