This book is really interesting. im new to knitting and picked up this book because all the projects in it are useful. Usually ive picked up a book and out of all the projects only found 2 or 3 i really liked, but all of these are fantastic. mobile phone holders, bracelets, funky socks! the books says exactly what yarn types/ needles theyve used. so theres no reason why your final piece cant look like image from the book. i did know a few of the basic stitches to start off with, but the book explains how to cast on/ off etc. how to change colour yarns whilst knitting. its really brilliant. if your thinking of a new hobby... definately try this book to get you started.

I am not a new knitter but have given and recommended this book to many new knitters. It is definately fun and funky as well as being practical and useful. I have knitted two different glove patterns and a hat pattern from this book.

It is great for knitting last minute gifts and each design is knitted on 2 needles even the socks.

If you have anyone who is new to knitting especailly those under 25 this book will appeal and inspire them. It is also a nice size if you want a portable project

Really lovely book and great ideas, which I would love to make nearly all the items. However for an absolute beginner who has never knitted before and doesn't have anyone to ask for help will seriously struggle to make anything from the book! I found it hard enough the cast on, knit and pearl without extra human help, so am afraid I will not be able to make the lovely bag i have been eyeing up! Will keep trying though. I have rated with 4 stars as anyone who knows the basics would proably love the book and get on really well with the patterns, however I am completely lost.

Arrived quickly and it appears easy to follow. However, it is clearly out of date and needs to be reviewed updated by author. For example page 92 which is a pattern for a necklace. It looks great and I want to make it but the materials needed no longer exist! You require Rowan 4 ply cotton wool which has been discontinued. The beads which have been referenced as J3001013, no longer exist either. Would have been better to give more information on bead types and have suggestions for other wool makes/ types rather than just Rowan!

Absolutely smashing little book. The patterns all use Rowan Yarns but there is a useful ready reckoner in the front, which will help if you want to use your stash rather than buy additional yarn.
There's socks, slippers, bags, belts, mittens, hats and two very useful flowers designs which can be customised to embellish your other projects.
A cracking little book, not for the complete beginner but worth every penny

Really love this book. Lots of simple, quick but effective items. Many can be made quite easily and are ideal for gifts. You do not have to be a very good knitter as patterns are clear.I particularly like it as the items would appeal to various ages and you will certainly use lots of the patterns.

I've bought this book and really like it.

Even though I'm 51, I do find that so many of the designs in knitting books and magazines are SO old-fashioned, or at the least somewhat unstylish!

But this book has a few things that a) I like, and b) 21-year old daughter likes.

I've made the cable pencil-case (looks good bar one, oops, mistake of mine!) and am in the middle of the gorgeous sage gloves, and they're going well. I'd say my knitting stage is 'improver', and the book is probably best suited to improver/intermediate plus rather than beginners.

(And I paid full price for it in Hobbycraft - dohhhh!!!)
