Product Description

This Working Man'S Boot Tells Its Own Rugged Story With Hard-Wearing Hardware And A Full Lug Sole.

Manufacturer's Description

The Frye Company is the oldest continuously operated shoe company in the United States. Founded in 1863 by John A. Frye, a well-to-do shoemaker from England, and family-run until 1945, Frye products have a long and illustrious history. Frye boots were worn by soldiers on both sides of America's Civil War, soldiers in the Spanish-American war, and by Teddy Roosevelt and his Rough Riders. When home-steadying drew adventurous New England families to the West during the mid and late 1800's many of the pioneers wore Frye Boots for the long journey. Today Frye remains true to its roots with its line of heritage boots, but continues to innovate as it introduces chic new handbags, pumps, and sandals to its collection.

The high res pictures of these boots on the Amazon page mean that you know exactly what you are getting, no surprise there. Great looking boots, super quality leather, etc....
But as mentioned by other customers, DO ORDER A SMALLER SIZE than your normal size. I initially ignored this advice, and had to return the first pair I received. I'm normally an 8UK, I changed my order for a 7UK, and they fit perfectly well.
02nd thing: it is also true that the first time you put them, it's really hard to slip your feet in the boots. Little trick I used (a bit messy, but it worked): I sprinkled a little bit of baby powder inside the boots, so it was easier to put them on.
Sounds like a lot of hard work for a damn pair of boots....but hey, they're worth it....they really are very very cool!

Had to buy a shoe horn to get these boots on. I hope they will loosen up with wear.

5.0 out of 5 stars I LOVE this boot 6 Feb. 2008

i purchased this boot in dark brown leather. the first time i tried to get them on, it was a struggle of brute strength. once on, however, the soft leather and comfortable fit made them seem as though i had worn them many, many times. the boot works with everything from 501's to rock 'n republic! they're stylish yet comfortable. i couldn't be more pleased. my only problem is i wanna wear every day. maybe it's time for a 2nd pair?

5.0 out of 5 stars FRYE Men's Rogan Boot 10 Nov. 2012

Like previous reviews have stated, go one size smaller than you would normally go. I'm usually a 9 to 9.5 sometimes a 10 depending on the brand, but I went with an 8 and it fit great with a little room at the toe. The leather is very stiff just above the ankle when putting the boot on, but with more and more wear, I think the leather will flex and loosen.

This was the first pair of shoes/boots I've purchased online and my main concern was the size but overall they look great. The fit is pretty snug, but once broken in, they should loosen like any other new footwear.

5.0 out of 5 stars FRYE Engineer Boots 6 Jun. 2010

I really like these boots, wear them to work almost every day. I've gotten lots of compliments on them. The leather is excellent, soft but thick enough (just barely) to hold its shape well.

4.0 out of 5 stars Almost, but no cigar 14 Nov. 2009

Most Important: Buy a one size smaller than you normally do! These boots run huge. But one size down made it fit perfect. (for me a 11 to a 10). I really like the boots they aren't large or obnoxious. But they seem to cheaply made for the $300 price range. The sole of the boot came unglued the first day of use. But easy to take care of and worth the $100 sale price.

2.0 out of 5 stars Too small 25 Aug. 2013

Amazing that many reviews said buy a size smaller. I've got a million size 13 shoes and boots that generally fit well and these were way too small. I don't know what to say but I had to return them. Oh yes, I also have another set of boots from Frye also made in Mexico that's a perfect fit. Who knows why the disparity?
