About the Author

Growing up in the land of 10,000 lakes and cold, snowy winters, Lynn Rush has been known to weave a little of that cool Minnesota climate into her stories, but these days, she much prefers desert living. She resides in Phoenix, Arizona, with her husband, and when she’s not busy writing her next trilogy, she can be found pounding the pavement, training for her next endurance event. Let me start this review by saying that the book cover is GORGEOUS and so very very apt for this story. It didn't influence me to download the book, but it did catch my eye.

Lynn Rush does not hang around in introducing her main character and her very cool abilities! From the very first chapter we find out that Amanda is not your average girl next door and that she is being hunted by people nicknamed "Coats". With her brother Scott, she has moved from town to town to avoid detection and capture.

Amanda, known as Mandy to her closet friends, just wants to live a normal life. She wants nothing more than to settle in one place and be a normal teenager. She's found a new best friend who "gets" her and all she wants is to make it through one week and graduate. Oh and there's Zach. Zach drives Mandy's hormones wild and makes the temperature around her drop.

This book has it all: romance, action, drama and more. Some neat little twists that will make you have an OMG! moment and some moments that will make you laugh out loud. There's also moments when you know how it feels to want to just fit in. What person doesn't want to fit in?

What I liked:
I liked that each character HAD character. None came across as just being a spare part in the plot, each had a niche to slot right into.
The neat little twists: They were AWESOME :D I actually didn't see some of them coming.

What I disliked: The fact the second part is not available yet!!

4 out of 5 stars from me :D

The book is about Amanda, who isn't quite normal… she can shoot snow from her hands. All she wants is a normal life, but having sinister ‘Coats’ the scientists that killed her parents 4 years ago and who are also determined to catch her its not really possible.
Amanda is 17 is living with her brother, Scott in a small town in Arizona. They have been able to stay long enough for her to make friends she even has a best friend called Georgia, She's still constantly on the look out for the Coats, and has to keep control of her powers so not to give herself away.

This book has the familiar theme of the heroine who longs for a 'normal' life - but realizes that in reality she will never get that option, and will have to fight to keep her freedom and her family and friends safe.

The story line although of a similar vein of other YA Paranormal books, was refreshing enough for me to read on and keep guessing, I liked the powers Amanda had, it made for interesting scenarios, there are enough plot twists to keep you guessing. If like "I Am Number Four" by P. Lore, then you are going to love this series.

I was able to imagine all the characters quite well, and the relationships were also well written, it was nice to see Amanda not falling for Zach straight away, I liked how she questioned his motives.

Her Best friend Georgia is the best friend you always wanted, and Amanda loves her like a sister. Scott was a great Big Brother, not too controlling, treated 17 yr old Amanda as an adult really, but I think I would have liked a bit more background information on how and why the 'coats' were after them.

I've just met a new author who's books I WILL be reading.
This book is now part of a fantastic boxset from some amazing authors.

Amanda (Mandy) and her brother Scott are hiding.
There are people after them who want to experiment on Mandy.
Why can Mandy do things 'normal' girls can't?
Will they have to move home again?
You will have to read this book to find out the answers to these questions and more.

I read this book as part of a box set. I hadn't heard of Lynn Rush before, nor the Touch of Frost series, but I am so glad to have read this book. It was unique, exciting, and I definitely will read the rest of the books in the series.

Wonderful. Really got me. The story is fresh, I like the fact that she doesn't explain the characters. You learn to know them meanwhile reading. 5 stars for sure. Can't wait for the next one .
