This 2006/7 re-issue of the classic Journey album contains a booklet and 4 bonus tracks. 'Only The Young' and 'Ask The Lonely' were originally intended for the Frontiers album, as was 'Liberty' I think, so it's good to hear them on it!

For true fans and collectors: The Tron soundtrack number 'Only Solutions' is also included. Interestingly enough, I have at least 3 versions of this song. This version is not the extended one, but it appears to be a re-mixed version that actually leaves out some of Neal's guitar work, particularly at the end! Strange...but interesting!

The album itself sounds virtually identical to the 1996 re-master, but there seems to be a difference in the bonus tracks. This is a worthwhile addition to any Journey collection, though.

JOURNEY - Frontiers

In short, Frontiers is an amazing and beautiful rock album. How I long for and miss the wonderful give it your all melodic vocals of singers like Steve Perry, the sweet synth keyboards of Jonathan Cain, drumming that's playing with the rest of the band in a nice percussive MUSICAL way such as Steve Smith delivers, likewise the smooth rythms and lead guitar sprinkled on by Neal Schon and a simple yet effective Bass from Ross Valory. Best of all the harmony when all 4 singing members (that's all except Steve on the drums) sing together. Such a magical rock team are Journey. 80% of the album is top notch, while as other reviewers mentioned tracks like Back Talk are simply filler.

It took me a while to discover Journey, which is such a tradgedy as there an amazing band and I love everything I've heard on Frontiers and Escape(some tracks not as much as others but your always going to get that with any band).

What I wanted to bring home was how amazing the bonus tracks are, in particular track 11. Only The Young, what a magnificient piece. Why this didn't feature on the album when it was originally released is beyond me(even swap it for 'Back Talk' and the album would have originally been even more stellar), but seriously these are really worth buying it for Journey fans who no doubt will have all the vinyls and possibly even a cassette collection of there rock mastery albums.

If only all artists gave you not one, not two but 4 bonus tracks on there CD releases, I'm certain most fans would buy them all again(I did for the ICEHOUSE collection recently for example for that very reason), with Journey I was gob smacked that tracks as magical as this had gathered dust unheard until now.

Love this band love all the songs and for me its my time when they were at their peak. Steve Perry is the best and there are no duff tracks on this album. There are some fabulous reviews for it, I wholeheartedly agree with them.

Already owning a copy,i bought this remastered edition for the booklet and the extra tracks-these four tracks are classic Journey."Only the young" has got to be one of the most Journey sounding songs you could ever hear-Steve Perry's soaring vocals are awesome and timeless. The whole album has a more rock drummyer feel to it than their earlier material-a more fuller, layered sound. Not as classic or acoustic sounding as previous albums, but if you're a Journey fan it's a must for your collection.Neals guitar riffs aren't quite so inspiring as usual but Steve Perry's voice( although singing at a lower vocal range) is spot on-strong and full of emotion-he gives his all as only he can!

'Escape' was always going to be a hard act to follow. 'Frontiers' is possibly the most underrated of Journey's entire output and deservedly sold by the bucketload especially in the States. As a previous reviewer has already noted, the videos that accompanied the songs sometimes left something to be desired. However Journey were always about the music.

'Separate Ways (Worlds apart)' is a great way to kick off proceedings. 'Back talk' is the only filler track on here. Whilst I love the singles from this album: 'Separate ways', 'Send her my love' and 'Faithfully', there are some hidden gems here. 'After the fall' and 'Edge of the blade' are excellent songs delivered with Journey's usual high level of performance.

'Frontiers' is a classic that didn't get the credit it deserved. A worthy addition to any collection. AOR at its best

Ok some of it sounds a bit dated but wonderful to hear Steve Perry's amazing vocals & some good meaty rock guitar & drums. Happy days.

Good quality album from the 80s, stands up well with at least three killer tracks on it which is about as much as you can hope for.
