It has been.
This has everything.
The strongest, most intelligent, irresponsibly curious and fragile lead character which could be the best selection for a role in tv history...Walter Bishop by Mr Noble.
From the paranoid cover ups to the paranormal investigations and the cross threaded underlying, merging themes throughout the entire series...The science, cooking/tasting, self medication, self produced medication, parrallel universes, time travel, time manipulation, the future of mankind (others), brain implants and human experimentation all comes together beautifully.
Perfectly casted and occaisionally bordering/touching the outer edges of cheesey in a way that kept it interesting rather than off putting, but oddly, and in context I really think oddly, BELIEVABLE!!!!
Brilliant and so far better, for differing reasons, each time - on the forth now.
I do not really like television, but, if more was like this maybe I would love it.
That said, there are lots of light moments: especially with Walter [Doctor Bishop], who is a certified lunatic - but very bright. In fact all the characters are well casted, believable and fit perfectly with one another. And with many playing TWO roles - one in each universe - it's amazing how they managed to keep track
All-in-all, I for one was sad to find there are 'only' 100 episodes. I could have watched that many more, easily. If X-files was the gold standard, Fringe is platinum - and then some
For some reason, the starts of episodes tend to be a bit ketchupy. I think some people are put off by this. I can understand why, as I don't go for ketchupy shows myself, and this is the one thing about the show that I wish had been different. However, episodes usually settle down and a bit of patience is rewarded with a solid bit of entertainment.
Visually, the show is pretty to look at and makes the most of Blu-ray.
