'I sat down for a few minutes to skim through A Friend Like Henry...Hours later, I was still there, with tears running down my cheeks - for the appalling difficulties faced in dealing with the condition and with officialdom, but most of all for the extraordinary devotion and empathy between the boy and his dog. Just buy it, please.' (Sarah Stacey, Mail on Sunday)
'Truly affecting ... terribly touching' (David Sexton, Evening Standard)
'More than just a heartwarming tale about a healing relationship between boy and dog. It is also a mother's painful search for love from a child' (Herald)

Having worked with autism myself, I could identify with the trials and tribulations.
The book made me laugh and made me cry with its highs and lows.
Despite all the trauma, this is a heartwarming story with a very positive outcome; I really enjoyed it.
Make time for this book, it was addictive, I couldn't wait to get home from work or up in the morning til find out what would happen next.
I have now bought other recommendations associated with this book and it has opened up a new understanding to autism and such conditions.
Enjoy, I certainly have.
If you are the parent or carer of an autistic child you should read this book! If you work with autistic children you should read it! Or if you are quick to judge people with children who seem to be out of control then you should most definitely read it!! This is beautifully and honestly written by Nuala Gardner but there are also parts of it written in the words of her son Dale. What an amazing family. Please read.
This book made me laugh and cry ! It made me angry and proud! It was an emotional rollacoster to read!
The story rings true for so many families and I hope it brings awareness and understanding for many!
