The Friedland Response SL2 Wirefree Keypad Controlled Burglar Alarm System is the ideal system to protect your home. It allows for multi user control by accessing the system through a small keypad using a four digit code.
Friedland have a successful history of providing wirefree alarm systems to homeowners across both the UK and Europe, offering quality products with simple wireless installation and easy operation. All wireless alarm systems operate by sending signals across radio frequencies, commonly the crowded 433MHz frequency. Friedland now introduce a new range of wireless alarm systems, using the more secure 868MHz frequency that is less prone to interference from other devices than systems operating on 433MHz. The higher antenna output provides a stronger transmission enhancing the performance and range from the control unit to the accessories.

I have a Friedland alarm myself, the all singing and dancing one with communicating options, but needed a simpler version for my elderly parents.
On first impressions this system seemed quite good but the more I got into it I found it has some issues.
Firstly the keypad refused to link to the sounder, no matter how many times I tried. I put the sounder into learn mode and pressed the appropriate button on the keypad. I took the battery out... changed the link..pressed a key....battery in...pressed the unlock button again, just as the manual described but it just would not link up with the siren. Total Junk !
I wasn't that bothered as I had purchased a remote fob as my parents had concerns about entering a code into the keypad within the entry time anyway, but the point is most people would want to use the keypad and it should work.
The remote fob and all the sensors linked to the siren without any problems at all and I had the system completely installed within about 3/4 an hour so a big plus there.
The next disapointment was that the arm/disarm chirps from the siren were quite high frequency and not easily audable for my parents. It would have been nice if the siren had a selectable frequency option for the chirps to make them easier to hear for the elderly or those who may suffer with their hearing.
I also found that when alarming the siren could hardly be heard from inside the house yet it was just on the wall outside. I would estimate that the volume of the siren was probably a quarter that of the wired system it was replacing...Read more ›
I suppose I won't know until the 26th December?
Well installed it yesterday the 5* is now 1*. Total rubbish don't waste your money on this system. I have installed nine systems in my homes and other people's houses on the estate. This was a present so money/cost was an issue, but it's not worth bothering with. I found the following problems....
1/ no key fob, means you have to use the key pad. It was sold with a key fob when I bought off line, and the instructions on the box also said it should have a key fob inside, but the system has been revised and the fob removed. Now I know why the tamper strip have been ripped off.
2/ key pad buttons stick (an this is new what will it be like in 12 months time)
3/ The instructions are totally inadequate and jump back and forth through the fitting process.
4/ a video on the web was useless and a sales gimmick only.
There are better systems out there for the same money. Personally I would recommend Visonic, a bit more but worth the money you pay for it. I am now going to order and pay for a key fob that should have been in the kit.
The sl2 control panel dosent tell you or indicate when the alarm is armed.also dosent beep when pressing the buttons.alarm isn't that loud.if you broke into the house from the rear you wouldn't know the alarm had gone off.the sl2 panel doesn't have an alarm sou.nder built in either.
The sl7 has a voice dial.so will phone 4 tel nos.if an alarm is triggered.combine this with the y-cam home monitor for cloud based storage free forever.
I'm not happy with the sl2. The instructions are crap.they should have astep by step installation sequence.but they jump all over the place.
