This is a simple cookery book- no lush pictures- but her recipes are well written and you don't need them. I found fewer astounding recipes when compared to the Italian book, but still there's
Cabbage Gratin- my notes say- amazing affinity of cabbage and gruyere (cabbage in a flavoured up bechamel sauce).
Courgette and rice soup- a good simple combination.
I seem to have really liked the quiches which are proper French versions, not the sad wimpy flavourless English flan- this is eggs and cream cooking!
My notes seem to have gone overboard on a dish from the Carmargue- Rice with Courgettes- surprising for something so simple.
Frankly you couldn't cook like this everyday, but this is definitely for a good solid treat.
