Quite a good book but with a fairly strong American bias. I found it useful when preparing a lecture I was to give.

Interesting read but seemed to wonder off the subject several times

HASH(0x9576a654) out of 5 stars A very broad attempt by the author 9 Jan. 2013

A fairly recent attempt by two authors to (a) trace the history of the Craft (b) describe the current eveloutions. In the former they examine many ancient beliefs and customs over time to the life of Christ, then subsequent absobations by the church. A description of the Crusades leads to an examination of the Templars, their demise and fragmentation and ventures in Scotland. Eventually the books gets to the first London Grand Lodge and its growth and offshoots. They also dwell on the fragments of the Templars in Scotland, the Jacobite uprisings, etc. Thkey then go into summary descriptns of the current craft. The whole effort is sometimes disjointed. Sometimes they 'major in minors'. I am not certain the read is worth the effort.

HASH(0x9545bac8) out of 5 stars Masonic Wife 28 April 2012

This has been a great book for helping me understand the history of Freemasonry. My husband is a Mason and we both are members of OES and learning about all of this helps my understanding of where OES comes from as well as what my husband is participating in as a Mason. I find it intersting to read both books that have so called "correct info" aka "conspiracy shtuff" as well as as the real information for making an intelligent and informed/educated opinion of the workings of our organizations.
