I am a massive Freddie Mercury fan and have a few books written by people about him. These books are good but there's nothing better than hearing words direct from the person that the book is actually about. And this is what this book is all about. I love it because it feels like he is speaking to the reader. Freddie was a very private man and rarely did interviews but this book takes the interviews he did and notes down the quotes he said. The quotes range from hilarious to sad, happy to extravagant, and many more. You know how he was feeling at each stage of his short lived life and the showman which lived inside him explodes onto the pages of this book. Believe me you will be repeating the quotes in this book to your friends and family. A great book for fans.

This is the nearest thing to Freddie's AutoBiography as we're ever likely to get. A definate must for Queen and Freddie fans.

It must have taken some painstaking piecing together, but the hard work has paid off. What we have here is just about everything Freddie publicly said and it covers just about every aspect anyone could be interested in.

It's also refreshing to know that for once what we're reading is gospel truth at the time freddie said it. So no more crude opinions from people who have no clue what they're talking about, these words are from the great man himself. Because of the way it's been pieced together from recorded interviews and statements, it almost feels like Freddie is talking to you and is far more personal than anything that has been deliberatly written.

Freddie certainly had a lot of opinions and wasn't afraid to be blunt. But i'd prefer that to some wishy washy 'easy-to-forget' answers. I find myself hanging on his every word. As you read your way through the book, all his emotions come flooding out..his humour...his campness...his arrgoance... his passion and love and of course his love of music. It's all here and it makes for fasinating reading.

The most insightful and truthful Queen book out there, and it's from the horses mouth! Freddie remains a constant inspiration to millions. I don't know where i'd be without him.

I loved this book. It was quite cleverly written and very informative. As a massive fan, a lot of the quotes and stories I had read or heard before, either via the web, documentaries or similar Queen books. What's good about this book is it let's you into what Freddie thought about individual songs and albums, and to an extent the rest of the group... although mostly in a positive sense. It also mentions his celebrity friends like Bowie, Rod Stewart and Elton, and what he thought about other acts which either grew up with Queen or newer acts which he liked or disliked. It does jump back and fourth, but they have tried writing each chapter in a way that follows a realistic timeline to when he said a particular quote (not always accurate though). All in all, it's the nearest you'll get to a realistic and honest book on the greatest entertainer the world has and ever will see.

I am a huge Freddie Mercury fan and was so so disappointed with this book. It's just a series of quotes from Freddie during interviews and they are repeated over and over again with his words just changed round a bit. I thought I would be getting a book about his childhood, him growing up, his music etc etc. This is a book just purely cashing in on his name. Freddie Mercury fan or not -DON'T BUY IT - you WILL be disappointed.

The book is interesting but, it feels two-dimensional.It's all his
answers from a large variety of interviews, but you don't know the context of the questions. When he says "I've never tied my own shoe-laces," is he angry? is he joking? Also, very little indication of WHEN he said things is given, though sometimes I could work it out. Also, the answers he gave to an interviewer may
not be the same as his personal feelings. However, there are some
great quotes in it, and a fantastic selection of photographs.

This is a book of thoughts, feelings and opinions in words of a unique Entertainer, who was one of the very Best. Almost like sitting on Freddie Mercury's shoulder, listening to his speaking these words. A book to be read slowly, giving the reader time to ponder upon the thoughts of an entertainer who cared so much about his fans. A kind of thought capsule throughout his years. A gem for my book collection.

The book is what is says on the cover - Freddie Mercury's own words. Painstakingly put together from hundreds, maybe thousands of quotes and lines spoken by Freddie in interviews, the book has clearly been written by two dedicated fans. It is very clever and does give some insight into the man Freddie was, but obviously not an autobiography. Because the composition of the book relies purely on quotes from Freddie, it does drag a little at times and become monotonous. However, it's a very good effort - far better than 'journalists' who take information from the public domain, dress it up and then try to pass off their books as 'exclusive' and 'definitive'.
