5.0 out of 5 stars Consistent West African culture and power dynamics 2 April 2017
By Amazon Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
I love Kiru Taye's books because I get to learn about West Africa (Nigeria and Ghana) and her heroines are always reclaiming lost power in their relationships. Men learn to tame their egos. It's always tense and the Happily Ever After has real emotional and social obstacles to conquer.

I love the Essien series and how it has parallels to the fascinating real but troubling social inequities of Nigeria. Freddie is not what I expected and I love the age gap between the heroine and her suitor.

Domestic violence is a subject covered and in Nigeria it is so so culturally volatile. Add in a very hot mix of a loving D/s relationship and you learn about the differences between consensual and non consensual dominance.

I'm only disappointed we didn't get the whole story in one book and will be looking forward to the resolution of this tense triangle.

I WAS SO VERY VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH THIS LAST BOOK IN THE SERIES. IT WAS LIKE IT WAS AN AFTER THOUGHT. THE STORY WENT KNOW WHERE. WHY DID YOU EVEN WRITE THIS LAST BOOK. THE OTHER STOIES WHERE SO FULL OF LIFE AND LOVE AND HOPE . THIS ONE WAS SO FAR FROM THAT.
3.0 out of 5 stars I like the book, I love the series, but I hate cliff hangers! 20 April 2017
By Tracey Powell-Simpson - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
This series has been very good. I really like the fact that each book is a stand alone, rich with its on storyline and a bit of follow up for flavor. I love the historic references too! I never read a Kiru Taye book before this series and I have become a fast growing fan, but I am too impatient to wait on a conclusion! It was hard enough waiting for Freddie' story! I would rather have waited for both books together! You DON'T need cliffhangers! Your books ARE magnetic already!
